+ The dev kept their promise for the keys, so that's a plus... + The graphics are awesome: looks like a lovechild of 80s Synthwave album covers and PS1 era games + The music is BANGING, fits the mood and aesthetics of the game BUT! ----- The drifting mechanics is SO AWFUL! The original drifting - from the prototype, which can be accessed still from their itch.io page - had SO MUCH BETTER: You had to alternate quickly between the brake and the acceleration to use it, and it was you really needed it to, because that was the only way to get around the track fast and not just grind the walls... Now you just have to put your weight on the gas and there you go, no need for DRIFTING... just go! (It's in the name, for Pete's Sake!) If you bring back the original drifting, I might revise my review and set it to recommend. Until then, it's just a pretty looking and cool sounding boring game :(
PLEASE READ THE DEV'S STATEMENT BEFORE BUYING. THEY KNOW ITS NOT 100% POLISHED, BUT THIS IS THE GAME THEY COULD RECOVER FROM THE ASHES OF THE LAST PROJECT. IF THEY COULD TWEAK THE GAME TO ACCOMMODATE PLAYER'S FEEDBACK, THEY WOULD. "You're as beautiful as the day I lost you...." I really wish the best for this dev, especially because of the chaos involved that got created this situation. And I know it takes guts to put this out to the public, something you deeply love but know is not complete, especially since we will never know what exactly happened. But know this, its not due to apathy, nor greed, that the game out now. Its because the developer took the risk of getting harsh feedback an complaints, especially from those who aren't aware of what happened earlier, just to make sure that something got into the public's hands to play. Just so that some experience survived. I think comparing it to a painting in a museum fairly apt. You may not be able to see much further than what its presented, and come away wishing you could interact with it more, or that there was more content behind the cost of the ticket in. Some of its flaws may be more apparent than expected, to the point of others mocking the work. But knowing the effort it took to just get this out here, the love that went into the game, and the vulnerability of putting something on display, makes me take a much more nuanced perspective on the matter than "game good/game bad". This is the game as it is, as it was, and what might be. I wish the developer the best in their endeavors, and I truly do hope that they can eventually earn enough new funding and find a way to restore the game to an improvable state. Until then, I will enjoy hopping into Drift Stage, even if it is just to tinker around.

Thank you to Charles for pushing this through. Many of you commenters need to relax and realize there was much to this in the background. Enjoy it and or move along.
I backed this game on Kickstarter many moons ago when it was first announced. While I agree with a lot of the concerns shown in the other reviews, I still believe this can be made into a great game and I hope a public early release access helps Charles get there. The handling was indeed better in the 2015 alpha, before the whole game was re-engineered with a new track. I have a feeling a few factors contributed to this, including the complexity of expanding that original demo into a fuller-fledged game, and the happenings behind the scenes with change of developers. However, while I initially thought the current driving model was twitchy I realized one thing: The original driving model played better on a controller. The current driving model in the version available today plays better on keyboard. I assume the new developers had a different playing experience in mind when tweaking the new model. If you keep that in mind, and the fact that yes only Eventide Highway right now has any turns worth drifting in, you can see what they're going for. I still have hopes for this game, and I'm glad to have backed it.
So, I really don't want to say that after waiting for about 6 years, from when I first heard of this game to now, that I'm disappointed in the build given, but I'm definitely not happy with it. Given the amount of time from then to now, I'm glad we got something, but with how jank-y and very simplistic the game is, I was kind of left displeased. I some stuff has happened over the years with the game being continuously postponed and that the original developer, or whoever, pulled a Houdini with the cash invested into this game by the community, which is why I am not upset with the current people who are currently working on it, but I do hate the fact that I'll have to wait even longer for a game that's malleable enough to enjoy more than 15 minutes. Maybe another year, or two. Hope the development of this game goes smoothly from here on out. Good luck!
The best way to put this game (as of January 2023) is bursting with potential. At the moment it may not be as extensive as most other games for the time being, but its just that: for the time being. The game is an absolute gold mine of potential, with its super catchy 90s visuals and awesome soundtrack. I have a hunch that when the track editor is completed and a few of the kinks are worked out, this game is gonna skyrocket in terms of lifespan. I also understand why the game is in the state its in right now, that being the ♥♥♥♥ conditions the lone developer had to go through. In a nutshell, he was abandoned by 2 out of the formerly 3 person development team and left to complete it on his own. But Delko displayed incredible resilience with the situation and pushed through to get this game made. Who cares if there's a dumb rock on the track, the game took a metric ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of effort and determination to complete and I respect the hell outta Delko for it. Keep on keepin' on, Delko. Can't wait to see the future of this game unravel.
there's a lot of work to do but man, I am glad this project is not dead. Keep the dream alive!
never finished and the project has been pretty much abandoned such a shame really
incomplete game
I forgot I backed up this disgrace off Kickstarter or whatever. Something that had potential, now or has been a turd since. What a waste of money.
