Let's go back to reviewing bullet heaven titles, shall we? Despite no apparent connections to [url=https://store.steampowered.com/app/1907900/Halftime_Heroes/?curator_clanid=43402758]Halftime Heroes[/url], this dragon-themed bullet heaven is almost eerily close to that title's characteristics. Some of the weapons are virtually identical in visuals and functionality, such as the hammer from the sky, with even the menus, fonts and such. And the comparison in general isn't too kind to this title: it doesn't feel as varied, balanced or polished, with the progression of stages feeling pretty slow yet the permanent upgrades being way too easy to complete.
And despite its relative unoriginality and imperfect balance, I do think Dragon Survivors is a fun game. The general gameplay is satisfying, the visuals are enjoyable, there's plenty of characters to unlock and there's a good variety of strategies over increasingly difficult stages to crack, made more exciting by power-ups popping up all across the battlefield.
I first tried the game at launch and many aspects of it were very unpolished, including an annoying chest bug, but things already seem to be quickly improving. Here's hoping for a bright future for Dragon Survivors!
