Dragon Fantasy: The Black Tome of Ice

This game is wroth very penny. It\'s so much fun and I love the chrono trigger and final fantasy feel of the game. If you are a fan of jrpg it\'s a must buy!

Such an awesome game and better than the first. However, game breaking glitches ruin it.

Прошел эту игру часов за 100 на 3ds, надеялся что и тут получу такое же удовольствие, но нет, после вылета боя с эпичным монстром для меня приключение окончилось...Очень жаль....

I really wanted to like this, because even though it was an absolute failure of a parody, the previous installment was at least a solid game. This one started off alright with Ogden picking up where he left off last time. "Hey, they're trying to be Chrono Trigger in this one; that's cool, I guess... I mean, combat is slow and dull, and the enemies are damage sponges, but that should work out once I have more party members, right?" For a while, the only party members you can get are monsters, whose stats are so low and equipment so chintzy that they're almost completely useless; the ones that can heal are at least decent at that. Once you get human party members, you have a fairly competent group, but it's still SUPER grindy, which would be fine, but the game's not built very well for long grinding sessions. The writing is worse than ever, too; aside from hackey video game references with no real context to make them work - THEY MADE THE MASTER OF UNLOCKING JOKE AGAIN HA HA HA HA HA THAT NEVER GETS OLD - they have jokes that sound like they were written by a child. Same obsession with bad smells, too, but now so strong that it needs a restraining order. Seriously, it uses that word when it doesn't even make sense; I have congenital anosmia, so I don't even know what smell [b]is[/b], and even I can tell you that! This thing just wore me down after a while; there just wasn't any reason for me to keep playing. Its only real redeeming factor is the soundtrack, but that can be enjoyed separately from the game, itself, so get yourself over to BandCamp and support Dale North; he's great! All told, I can't really recommend this to anyone, even if you enjoyed the first game.

I tried playing this on Linux and the very Chrono Trigger like presentation (sans Active Time combat unfortunately) had me ... until I tried taking ANY action in combat, and the game crashes that very moment. Anticlimactic as hell. I'm on Kubuntu LTS for crying out loud, and my graphics driver is the native supported Intel, I've played several Steam games with modern 3D graphics and they NEVER crash, so it's totally unacceptable for a pixel art game to have a Linux port here on Steam, and be this much of an unstable afterthought. It just disappoints people. I have a feeling that this is a quality JRPG, but I won't get to enjoy it. Refund time. :(

This is not a perfect game, but it's a lot of fun, and I feel like even if you didn't play the first one (Volumes of Westeria), you could enjoy this game just as well. Well written, and has great music.

This is a good game. It not mind blowing but it will keep you entertain for more than 20 hours. The first one was better but this one is recommended. Good story line and likable characters. You want to pick something up for a couple of days fun I would recommend. 7.5/10

No entiendo las malas críticas que tiene este juego. Es un JRPG por turnos con un sistema dinámico, sin combates aleatorios (ves los enemigos en el mapa), bastantes secretos, y una dificultad bien ajustada. Tienes la posibilidad de capturar monstruos y usarlos en batalla, lo cual está bien. Bastantes misiones secundarias, aunque básicamente sólo hay 2 tipos (ve a un sitio y mata tal monstruo, o ve a tal sitio y recoge tal objeto). Historia decente, con un buen mundo creado (mejor que el 1º en este aspecto). Hay muchas quejas de bugs, pero yo solo he encontrado 2 en todo el juego. En fin, muy recomendable. A la espera del Volumen III, ya que el final se queda totalmente abierto para una secuela.

Dragon Fantasy 2, like the first one, is a recently released retro pixel JRPG ripoff. The best part about this game is it wasn't made in RPG Maker, which means it displays properly and isn't quite as clunky. However, it's still a horrible retro pixel mess, with ugly graphics, trying to cash in on 1990's nostalgia and badly. Gameplay isn't fun and the writing is terrible. It simply doesn't offer an enjoyable RPG experience.
