一款画风可爱的2D(2.5D?)
DOTORI is a charming yet demanding indie platformer developed by indev-studio and published by CFK Co., Ltd., starring a determined little squirrel named Rico on a quest to rescue his sister Lottie. What begins as a simple tale of siblings gathering acorns quickly transforms into a high-stakes adventure after a mysterious owl abducts Lottie, thrusting Rico into a gauntlet of challenging stages filled with traps, enemies, and precision-based obstacles. At its foundation, DOTORI presents the classic appeal of retro platformers, blending cute character design with tightly structured, often punishing level challenges that require timing, adaptability, and persistence. The game’s art style sits comfortably in the realm of colorful, expressive 2D animation. Rico’s character design, with its combination of innocence and determination, adds an emotional anchor to the journey. Environments are vibrant and varied, ranging from wooded areas to hazard-filled mechanical zones, each designed with bright palettes and clearly readable obstacles. The visuals remain simple but effective, providing clarity during fast-paced sequences where understanding the environment at a glance is crucial. DOTORI doesn’t aspire to high-end visual spectacle; instead, it focuses on readability, charm, and consistent theming. The soundtrack complements the aesthetic, offering a light, energetic tone that keeps the mood adventurous even when the gameplay becomes intense. At its core, DOTORI lives and dies by its platforming. The early levels introduce movement, jumping, simple hazards, and the game’s signature mechanic: the ability to pick up and throw blocks. This throwing mechanic becomes central to solving environmental puzzles, accessing new areas, and defending yourself against certain threats. As Rico moves deeper into enemy territory, the game steadily ramps up the complexity, adding moving platforms, disappearing floors, rhythm-based traps, and increasingly intricate obstacle patterns. Some stages introduce more puzzle-like sequences where throwing and positioning blocks becomes essential, while others lean fully into reflex-heavy action. The challenge level escalates quickly, which will appeal strongly to players who thrive on difficult, precision-based platformers. Many levels require repeated attempts, as hazards are often unforgiving and enemy placement leaves little room for error. This sense of toughness evokes classic platformers from the 8- and 16-bit era—games built around trial-and-error progression and mastery through repetition. For players who enjoy the satisfaction of conquering a difficult sequence after multiple attempts, DOTORI offers plenty of rewarding moments. However, the difficulty isn’t always the result of careful design. A recurring issue lies in the game’s controls, which can sometimes feel slightly stiff or sluggish during critical maneuvers. Wall-jumps or rapid directional changes occasionally respond with a fraction of delay, which becomes noticeable during tightly constructed sequences that demand perfect input timing. In platformers where precision is essential, even small inconsistencies in responsiveness can transform a fun challenge into a frustrating grind. Combined with a few abrupt difficulty spikes, this sometimes makes progression feel less like a fair test of skill and more like a battle against input quirks. Level variety is present, but the overall structure remains consistent from start to finish. DOTORI leans heavily on its central mechanics—jumping, throwing, dodging traps—and while these elements are executed with competence, the game seldom introduces new twists or mechanics beyond minor variations. Boss encounters add occasional flair, breaking up the flow with pattern-based confrontations, but outside of these moments, the progression can become repetitive for players looking for evolving mechanics or more elaborate level themes. The repetition is mitigated somewhat by the optional challenge of collecting acorns throughout the stages, but this adds difficulty rather than variety. Despite its flaws, DOTORI maintains an earnest charm that helps carry the experience forward. The adventure is framed around the heartfelt bond between Rico and Lottie, giving context to the trials Rico endures. The combination of cute presentation and tough-as-nails platforming creates a memorable contrast, and the sense of accomplishment found in clearing a challenging level or boss fight gives the journey its emotional payoff. For players who appreciate indie platformers that prioritize challenge over cinematic storytelling or mechanical complexity, DOTORI offers a straightforward yet spirited experience. In the end, DOTORI stands as a modest but passionate entry in the precision-platformer genre. Its colorful visuals, heartfelt premise, and tightly structured stages give it personality, while its demanding difficulty and occasional control shortcomings shape it into a game best suited for platforming enthusiasts. Those seeking a relaxing or experimental platformer may find it too rigid or repetitive, but for players hungry for a cute, skill-oriented challenge with an old-school flavor, DOTORI delivers a satisfying, if occasionally uneven, adventure. Rating: 6/10

On my quest to play some good squirrel games I found this one... is this even a squirrel game? Good nuts: - Funny intro with our heroes - Our sister is pretty cute - 4 boss battles with increasing difficulty - The ending is a bit better than squirrel games usually have Not very good nuts: - Levels are just floating blocks, no nature, no beautiful sceneries, no enemies, no lore, no nothing - Collecting acorns seems to be useless - The game is too short, if you don't die much, you'll beat it in less than an hour - Main character doesn't look like a squirrel even a little bit I guess I'll leave a thumbs up, but only because I could actually beat this game. Won't bother with "bonus stages", the game felt frustrating already.
THIS . GAME . IS . AWESOME !
