My absolute favorite game of all time, sinked hundreds of hours into playing it.
Don't Starve Together is the ultimate survival-adventure-sandbox-social experience that defies proper categorization thanks to its uniqueness and limitless different ways of playing it. And it evolves with you. Playing it as a beginner is a whole different experience of overcoming grueling challenges of harsh seasons and cruel bosses whereas once you become a seasoned survival, day to day experience becomes easy but you're thrown into a vast sandbox with multiple long questlines al lowing you to shape the world to your whim.
The game is also truly the definition of the labor of love description, as it's developers Klei, over the span of 10 years, have constantly been updating, improving and adding content, keeping everything fresh and new. To each their own but I think this game is best enjoyed at a relaxed, completitionist pace with friends where you meet up online over the course of multiple long game sessions slowly building and progressing. It is a challenging game at first but changes forms parallel to your experience, rewarding long term commitment and helping you meet wonderful people around the world. I have nothing but praise for the experience. Just beware that the game is actually a very long journey with a whole year in world taking 9 whole hours and it is actually quite challenging when you're first trying to learn the ropes. Even as a veteran with thousands of hours, you might end up being jumped by something unpredictable and that's quite the fun. The game also has many complex optional mechanisms including a very deep farming system, better than many dedicated farming games, cool fishing, building and fighting mechanics and many ways to customize it through mods and settings. If you're willing to learn the ways of this foreign land across long gaming sessions, then this is the game for you!
