i really loved this game and it kept me hooked the whole time! the storyline is great and the gameplay is interesting because it really makes you think and it's unlike any other game i've played before. it is a little short but at least the whole game was good. i do hope they somehow add more content one day

Depict the negative reviews I still wanted to try out this game, mainly because I was hypnotised by the art like I normally am from other games even if they have mixed reviews, and I wanted to play this game for myself to see what's all the commotions was about. Sadly, I'm in the same boat as most of the other reviewers, this game is not bad it's just lackluster storywise, it has a decent start and ending, but I feel like it needed more time to flesh out the characters and the psychological question if it's moral to remove and/or change memories. Things just happen a bit too fast and it doesn't help this is another generic story about little guys fighting big corporations, I was a bit overburned with the premise at the time as a played a few cyberpunk games like 'The Red String' and 'Virtua Verse' which fall into that category. I wouldn't have minded it that much if the game was longer the explore the story a lot more to intrigue attention than it did at the time, and it would have helped care for how this game ended. Another annoying thing about this game was the memory configuration puzzle which we have to type specific words to progress to file through people's memories for them to remember, it was a huge deal for me, but I could see other players getting frustrated that they can't freelance by typing other words that sort mean the same thing to continue. If there's something I liked about Don't Forget Me was the pixel art of course, as well as the soothing soundtracks that were cozy enough to tickle your eardrums and lightened up the jazzing mood (if that makes sense,) honestly, I highly recommend checking out and purchasing soundtracks instead separately, if you're still somewhat interested in this game. Finishing this off, I 'hope' I could find another word to use other than 'hope' when I'm ending these reviews because I realize I've been doing that lately, but personal joke aside I hope...... (dammit) this isn't the last we see of The Moon Pirates that they continue to learn and to expand making games.
It's always sad for me to see another game with a great demo and a disappointing finish. I loved the demo because it was so focused on the word-puzzle mechanic, but in the three hours of gameplay, i did maybe four or five of those puzzles total- including the tutorial. Mostly the game was a lot of dialogue; it's extremely wordy, and this is the only way it attempts to do any world building. The worst part is the main storyline its trying to build for us is kind of confusing, and not as interesting as the side stories. The game introduces another aspect of searching the mind later; we only get to play with this mechanic twice, but those two stories are the most interesting of the entire game despite being side stories by technicality. The choices don't seem to really matter, it sort of feels like you're going no where, and ultimately there's so much nothingness that takes place between any "playing" that I don't even feel like revisiting the timeline to see the "other options." If you can call it that, considering the updated ending is essentially a choice and then end credits. I'd love to see this developer take the small parts of this game that were really a success and turn them into something new without trying to focus so much on weighty morals. All the interesting pieces were the small, grey, complex side stories. I don't really feel like I know what the big story was trying to tell me anyway. Freedom is important, I guess? Anyway. The characters were interesting and could have been good if we looked at all into them or got to see them grow. The aesthetics were fun. I even like visual novels; I just didn't think I was buying one here. They could go somewhere. But right now this game is not where it's at.
I really want to know:why does Fran lose her memory!!?And why does she kill Bernard!!?
Don't Forget Me was -to put it simply- dull. It felt like many ideas clustered into a single story that they couldn't manage to elevate on it evenly. It starts with great promises. But as the story progresses, it falls flat. To not spoil anything, I am not going to talk about details. I think one of the biggest mistakes of this game is the lack of characterization. The game expects us to empathize with other characters where we don't know soykaf about them. In some scenarios, this might be great. But in a story where characters are more important than the storyline, this kind of approach is totally wrong. Other than the story, I should do justice to its graphics. They are great. The soundtrack was great too. Not a banger but totally listenable. I should mention that this game is overpriced af. I don't suggest buying it without a sale. It only lasts around 90 to 120 minutes.

TL;DR
6/10 - If you love cyberpunk, wait for a discount to give it a try; if not, you can pass it on. You won't lose anything...

Bought it thinking it's a cyberpunk point-and-click but it turned out to be a graphical novel with branching paths instead. I normally don't like this genre but Don't Forget Me is surprisingly good. It's too short to recommend at it's retail price, but consider picking it up when it's on sale if you like an engaging story. The narrative / graphical novel genre is filled with games that have poor writing that is either simplistic emotional (like To the Moon) or barely philosophical, filled with lengthy dialogues and monologues focusing on ethics and morality (like 2064: Read Only Memories). I tend to stay away from this genre for this reason. Don't Forget Me does have some lengthy dialogues about ethics but luckily keeps it concise enough that it doesn't completely destroy the pacing. And because of the branching paths it even has replay value. Don't Forget Me is criminally short, the end feels rushed. Clearly the developers didn't get the memo after what happened with Mass Effect 3's ending. It's a pity that so many writers forget to make your branching paths relevant at the end, opting instead to just give you direct options for how you want to end the game. Don't Forget Me also does this, but it's actually worse if you can believe it or not. A satisfying ending would have been nice. I think it's great that Don't Forget Me found a way to make graphical novels work, at least for me. Hopefully the devs try it again and improve on the formula. Like giving us better input controls, branches that actually impact the finale. The ending sets up a sequel so hopefully we'll see one soon.
This will be a 4 lack-of-mouse-support out of 10. ;)
Un super jeu
Great game! Love the pixel art and visiting the character's memory.
