Developer/Publisher Review: The developer read my 2019 review of his game and took some of its feedback to include in later updates of the game. The developer has also been proactive. Game Review [Outdated]: As the store description states, it is a casual crafting game that is meant to provide a relaxing experience and allows you to kill some time creating some pixel art. It's also an easy game for achievement hunters. A lot of the game's mechanics come from Roppy Chop Studios's older games such as Bub Block, Super Markup Man, and Build 'n Bump. There's a potential from the game's mechanics but it is supposed to be a casual game. So to further add to this game's 2+ hour experience, I recommend a few things. I believe Doggo could use a few more tools to make the vertical traversal fun.

Give Doggo a dynamite or sticky bomb that could break up the terrain, which throws up a clump of blocks for Doggo to collect.
Perhaps, a power up that gives Doggo a drill that would help him dig fast underground; however, he must find that power up in the sky. Maybe close to the sun?
Maybe an underground power up that gives Doggo a grappling hook so he can grapply to faraway blocks such as the clouds.
I believe the max fuel capacity should be increased a bit.
This is a fun and unique game! In the same spirit of Minecraft, you can literally "draw" anything to your heart's desire in the big blue and big brown cavases! The game is as described and I'm not sure why a game that doesn't trick you into buying in-game items or well polished would disappoint the buyer. It's a good game to kill a few hours looking for the next secret item!
In Doggo Dig Down, you pick up blocks of dirt and place them in different spots. If making pixel art in a hugely roundabout, frustrating way is your thing, I’ve got great news… That’s all there is to it. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good dog, and all dogs are good, but even the cubic imitation of a canine that this game presents isn’t enough to get me excited. If there’s one thing that does get me excited, it’s the idea of potential decades of Steam letting literally anything be sold on their platform for the world to see! Hurray!
Doggo Dig Down is a 2D retro pixel/minimalist arcade digging/platformer game where you guide a dog to dig holes in a 2D minimalist plane. While this looks a lot like an asset flip/game construction kit template flip, apparently it's a real and genuine attempt to create a video game without any capability to organise genuine PC graphics. In fairness, then, the game should be reviewed as such. The graphics are terrible. Just look at the screen shots! No wonder this got dumped into cheap game bundles. I can't recommend anyone should buy this. If you want a digging game, I guess you could try Terraria, but that also has ugly 2D pixel "art" (again because the developers lacked the talent to do better).
Full review: https://thegamehoard.com/2019/05/09/doggo-dig-down-pc/ Doggo Dig Down tried to bank on the innate satisfaction of seeing your work pay off in two ways. Clearing away dirt and building up into the sky with it both have clear visual markers for progress, every bit of work clearly putting you closer to your goals, but the goals are sadly too spread out to really enjoy reaching. The hats and small upgrades can almost be disheartening to find due to their simplicity, the more helpful finds that could speed up the work kept until late in the game. Doggo Dig Down is still a cute and relatively stress-free experience, but the task asked of the player grows old quickly, the payoff for work rarely being worth the time invested to get there. Successfully building up and digging down takes between 2 to 3 hours, and while Doggo Dig Down is meant to be a casual experience, it almost uses that as an out so it doesn’t need to include more involved or entertaining elements. The creators clearly recognize that there is some fun to be had in making a giant hole and building a tall staircase to the heavens, and having one feed into the other does allow a swap between gameplay approaches so that you can’t dwell on either task too long. Sadly, as the game wears on, the activities grow longer rather than more interesting. Too much time is spent traversing things rather than working on things, and the abilities that could overcome the downtime of climbing out of pits or falling off of your build are kept out of the player’s hands for far too long. Having only the basics of satisfying play means it starts off okay, but it sticks around too long and becomes monotonous for it, never really sinking down into an outright chore but still missing the extra oomph that would invigorate the longer portions of climbing and digging.
best game
very good game i like the part where the doggo digs down and then builds up 10/10
Although I haven't played into it too far it's a very fun game. I really liked the concept of it of a cute little dog (you can choose from 4 dogs I think?..) on the quest to bury a bone deep underground building into the sky and stuff for power-ups/upgrades. The only thing that I wasn't a fan of was the speed of how you walked because it was kinda too fast for my pace in a way making me rage lol. Idk if you can change that or not so I can't really say much. But overall it's a cute little game to play, and it's even better if you are a doggo (dog) lover and enjoy little games like this. (Sorry for if I spelled something incorrect and horrible grammar xd)
This game honestly feels like a fever dream. Or a 2000s flash game. You're a dog digging deep into the earth to bury your bone, but then the dirt has to go somewhere, so you build your way up to find presents in the sky so you can carry more dirt to build more platforms to get high enough to jump into the sun and die (it's okay though, you come back). But also you can find a grappling hook and a jetpack. And there's chill lounge music playing the whole time. And also hats. Honestly though, I enjoyed it. It's short, and the tags seem like a misrepresentation of what the game actually is. It's only a precison platformer if you make it one, I wouldn't classify it as a side scroller game, and you're "exploring" only in the loosest sense of the word. You are moving dirt from one spot to another. That's it. I found it to be a pretty meditative 3 hours, but it's definitely not for everyone. I got it on sale for $1, and that's about what I'd pay for it.
Touching, truly heartwarming story of a dog who digs down in order to reach the stars. Made me cry for 27 hours straight, waiting for the sequel.
