This is definitely not a $50 game. $5 sale is more like it. Game is still buggy af with some pathing issues and the controls are abysmal.
(Обзор на русском тут: >тыц<) + When you dig blocks, you create paths for enemies and found crystals, orbs, and traps — defensive towers. + Gold blocks have upgrades for towers, red blocks — for enemies. + You can move your towers making a labyrinth. + Each few waves, a new enemy portal is opened. Sometimes, near your gold. So you need to plan digging and move towers to make a new long path for enemies. + Some levels have unique conditions, that requires you to change tactics. E.g. many solid blocks that can be destroyed only by explosive cards. Or non-buildable tiles that heal enemies. + Each cleared level gives gems to make global upgrades and unlock new towers. = Average pool of enemies. There are normal ones, heavy, fast, healing and mages that stun your crystals. = Note, that expected way to play the game is to get gems from lower difficulties before higher ones. So the game depends on both skill and progression. – No saves during run. You can't just close the game. – UI is questionable. – Sometimes your run depends on luck: I have one when got no legendary upgrades. – Few bugs. – Strange experiment with the game price. You can buy it from bundle by «normal» price. It was cool to found tower-defense with a fresh view for gameplay.
oh my god why is this game 48 euros now, it wasnt even worth it when it was 5 euros. super basic gamepley with 0 strategy with ugly art to boot zzzzzz
---see where this game landed on my tower defense tier list beneath this review!--- It's a fun mazer, I'm enjoying it. At first I thought there was a lack of tower variety and I couldn't see how to obtain more of them. As it turns out, there were more towers that I could add to my deck hidden on the upgrades screen. That screen was clearly designed for phones and not PC. I couldn't scroll my mousewheel on it, instead having to click and drag. It's easy to do once you know that, it just isn't intuitive and is easy to miss. The mousewheel scroll speed on that menu screen needs adjusting, and some kind of visual indicator; like a vertical scrollbar. Biggest drawbacks are: -Enemy variety -No fastforward button (Waves are quite short, this wasn't too much of an issue for me in this game) -Same music track on every level The core gameplay loop is quite fun, even if i am mostly doing the same thing every time, thanks to the random nature of digging and the minor roguelite elements. ===================== My Tower Defense Tier List ===================== -Not an objective list, purely how much I enjoyed the games- S Tier (Amazing!): X-Morph Defense | Warcraft 3 (Custom Maps) | Orcs Must Die! | Orcs Must Die! 2 | Orcs Must Die! 3 | A Tier (Great!): Dungeon Warfare | Plants Vs. Poor balance, very limited variety, the "gamble" block is always bad.
Good thing I only paid 5 bucks for this ludicrous Game. The biggest problem is the portals, New portals pop up all the time. You can have a great game going after many attempts, and then a portal appears a couple of squares from your gold cart.
For the price and for essentially 1 USP which is implemented badly this is a clown show. Tedious. Absolutely tedious. Tower defence but you have to keep moving your traps all over the place every time a new portal spawns while hoping your few clicks are enough to make the space needed, avoid gambles, avoid dead tiles, find new traps or cards. I wanted to play a tower defence but got a dungeon furniture arrangement sim instead. Good idea, bad implementation.
It's not great, but an alright TD with some fresh ideas. 5 hours in most levels plays the same. The full price is somewhere in the range of living in la-la land to being completely detached from reality. It's *nice* at $5. --- After having played some 30 hours more and closing in on that 100% achievements, I must say I like the game more. Maybe it's even worth $10 ;D $50 is just lol I really dislike the extreme randomness of levels. Some randomness is fun, but why even bother with levels when you just retry until you get no healer-mobs? And the random 3x3 area tower blow-up is such a crazy penalty and if it hit's your rare towers it's just game over after 20 minutes in-game, with no way to mitigate. You can mitigate for portals, but even with those you can get unlucky and spawn 3 portals in a row in bad locations. "How much can a player really take?". It feels like a social experiment. Such rage-inducing random punishments!
I picked this game up during a discount for about 5€, and honestly it's not worth it even for that price. the basic gameplay loop isn't bad but the random nature of the map generation mean that there is essentially only 1 strategy which is severely affected by luck. essentially it's extremely limited with very little replayability.
