Depths of Darkness

Depths of Darkness Is a very short game, and based on completing the game two times, it gives me the feeling that this is a learning case from the developer's side. There's not any backstory being presented, you are just thrown into the game and puzzling together everything step-by-step as you progress in the game. We get to play as an agent that investigates a pretty large facility. Mainly, we are navigating around a big underground structure and most of the time, looking for keys to open doors. Not in a "puzzly manor", more so in a linear way, you will see a door, and relatively close by, there will be a key. Essentially, we are given a task by the deep state government, and we will receive subtle instructions as for what to do. This information is presented in a little bit of a confusing manner, but after small amounts of trial and error, I found out what the message wanted me to do. Our task is to locate and recover a specific material, and hand it back to the deep state government. Along the way, you encounter predatory animals and a small selection of different creatures. Some of them are hostile towards you, others are jumpscares. Most of them are there to stop you in your efforts towards retrieving the material that you are out for. Quite nice selection of creatures, they really look super other-worldly. Especially the "snake", that one really gave some chills. At times, I felt some pretty strong feelings of emptiness in the game, which is never a good thing. The gameplay is also super straight forward, I did not experience any challenge or hardships. I did appreciate the graphics, and to be honest, the performance was better than I initially expected. The game does not offer any settings menu as of now, so keep all of this in mind if you're considering buying Depths of Darkness. I can recommend this game for someone who knows on forehand that it will be a short experience, and that the game could end up leaving you with a feeling that it's a learning case from the developer. The current price of the game also reflects that it's most likely a new developer trying out/experimenting new things, so in all fairness. It's ok. Ending left me craving a little more out of it. Achievements don't unlock. Length is roughly thirty minutes (had to restart due to a bug where I had to kill people before I could advance). I don't know what more to say. I don[t want to say yes I recomend, but I also can't say no. Literal middle ground here. Best I can tell you is wait for a sale if you want a quick experience that will cause some unintentional laughter.
