[th] Review by Sven Evil - Steam's best local 4-player curator! [/th]
The usual party brawler games are simply explained. Eliminate your opponents until you win. DepowerBall is a bit more complicated. After choosing your character, you have to select (or have them randomly selected) four special abilities. Then the game begins, and the aim is not to kill your opponents. Of course, you can shoot at the enemies to annoy and slow them down, but the aim of the game is to collect treats and bring them to the ever-hungry Dragon Queen. Whoever brings her the most treats in the short rounds (20 sec, 45 sec or 60 sec) wins. After each round, the losers choose a special power to take away from the winner. Hence the name of the game: Depowerball. Whoever wins two or three rounds has won the game. Five different levels provide variety, there are eight different looking characters. There is another game mode where you have to grab a treat and hold it as long as possible while the others try to take it away again. The game is suitable for up to four local players, if you don't have friends you can play with bots. Online is also supported, gamepads work well. It's a nice change from the usual platform brawlers. Conclusion: Fast-paced couch party brawler for up to 4 local/online players/bots, with short rounds and quite chaotic.
Not enough feet 10/10
One of the best parts of this game is the controls, very intuitive and responsive. The netcode is quite good. My favourite part is identifying your friends' strengths and taking them away, leaving them a shell of a player. I have this one friend, let's call him Macho, you take his lazer away, he becomes useless. Like cotton candy in a hurricane useless. 10/10
WHATEVER YOU DO, DON'T LET THEM TAKE YOUR LEGS! TANK TREADS GO BRR/10
This game is pretty fun. Love the mechanic where you lose your power ups as you win. It makes keeps the difficulty good and the game engaging. The character design is also really fun. Bruce is the winner. You should give it a try.
I had the pleasure of seeing DepowerBall in action at Fan Expo Canada this past weekend and absolutely fell in love with it after a few rounds of dominating and depowering my friends in "the pit." If you want a super fun local multiplayer game (that also happens to have online multiplayer) with a great hook and wonderful art style, DepowerBall should not be missed. It's great for all ages and extremely addicting. Highly recommend!
Real retro vibe but much smoother with creative character customization. Team play should be a real hit
I played this during the early access and it was a blast! Smooth and simple game mechanics with a loveable art style. Highly recommend this to anyone looking for a fun party game.
Manic fun for all ages
Got a chance to try it at FanExpo Canada. Had an awesome time! Love the cute characters and the general wholesome party game vibe.
