video games are still cool
Cons: - Actually really quite buggy towards the end. If your timing isn't perfect, sometimes the physics are really quite unpredictable - sometimes you'll clinch a connection you really should have missed, other times you can't really predict the crazy positions the game will have you restart in or whatever. - Outside of the actual trick tracks, tricking to get gold medals gets really, really dull really quickly, even as you unlock new mechanics. - The last 25% of the game isn't quite as consistent as what came before - the chapter 8 boss battle is kind of a style-over-substance slogfest that has you playing Ikaruga for some reason in a way that probably sounded far better on paper than how it plays, and other levels here and there end up playing almost like a high-level QTE sequence where you're expected to react in such convoluted ways that you're given little freedom to do anything your own way. Pros: I'm escaping to the one place that hasn't been corrupted by Denshattack... SPAAAAAACE!" - Molty I remember when I played the demo ages ago I noted that while others consider this game to be reminiscent of THPS and Jet Set Radio, I was reminded more of Sega's classic "blue sky" arcade fare, and I still feel that way - this is an arcade game through and through, pure on-rails score-attack bliss. Fantastic soundtrack, wonderful visuals, great set-pieces and a decent enough solarpunk-ish sci-fi story complete with these really charming zines you can pick up that flesh out the world-building and recommend you a different type of ramen for each chapter (I'm a sucker for this kind of thing). Early on, when I was just going through the story one mission after another, I did get a bit frustrated with how quickly the game throws new mechanics at you, but when I decided to start going back and try to get at least silver medals on every mission and collect all the film reels and onsens, the game's rhythm started to click with me, and when I got back into the game's story I had no issues keeping up. Which makes me think they probably could have done difficulty or gatekeeping progress a bit better, but eh, I'm not really too bothered by it.

I had a good time with this. It's fast, messy, and fun in short bursts. It feels like somebody mixed old school arcade energy with a train twist. Some parts go completely off the rails with how chaotic things get. But that's half the charm. I would trim the last couple chapters, but as a quick pick up and play game, especially if you commute or have a short session, yeah, recommended.
I love this game, it's the perfect arcade. The music is amazing, the gameplay remember me games like ollie ollie world and have a story that drive you through the levels
