Demon Runner The Forsaken

Note: Developer Response! The developer has advised they fixed the broken game (this does NOT excuse the unethical behaviour of trying to scam gamers into buying broken software). Review as follows... tl;dr: It's asset flip tier garbage. I'm not really sure if Demon Runner The Forsaken is an asset flip, but it almost certainly contains uncredited assets, and at the very least is plagiarism, an attempt to get gamer money for assets not created by the "developer" who claims credit for them. Some elements of this game certainly make it seem like the developer put some effort into assembling some kind of original here. On the other hand, a lot of the game assets don't seem like they were created by the developer, but they haven't credited any asset creators for supplying assets, which might be a case of plagiarism. There's no evidence, so we need to give the benefit of the doubt... regardless, asset flip or not, the quality here is indistinguishable from many asset flip/cash grab scams, and that's a problem in itself. Taking this shovelware seriously as if it was a genuine attempt to make a game, it doesn't meet basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers, left handed gamers or gamers using AZERTY or other international keyboard layouts. The poor quality of this game is reflected by how many people spent time with it. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the game all-time peak player count was only ONE player. That's right, only one person ever played this at a time. When I played this for the purposes of reviewing it, I equalled the peak player count for the game. OUCH. The only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 120 million gamers on Steam and well over 50,000 games for gamers to choose from, the overwhelming lack of interest in this low quality game is to be expected. Demon Runner The Forsaken is relatively cheap at $3 USD, but it's not worth it. Given the defects and quality issues with the game, coupled with the unrealistic price, and the questionable ethical nature of the developer and/or their associates (as outlined above), this is impossible to recommend. This is also competing with over 9,000 free games available on Steam, many of them far better than this paid product. This game features a number of suspicious, likely fake positive reviews. The reviews appear at times I'm pretty sure the game wasn't even playable (see what I mean about suspicious?), and all have very similar wording and writing style. Comically, the review accounts have only written one review (for this game!). Out of literally 10's of thousands of Steam games like Baldur's Gate 3 and Horizon Zero Dawn, these "genuine, totally legit" gamer accounts decided this complete asset flip tier garbage is the game they will write a glowing review for? Yeah, that's utter bullcrap. I feel certain the "developer" of this garbage has engaged in review manipulation. This shouldn't be a surprise given the high likelihood the developer is trying to claim the work of actual asset creators as his own, as well as the highly unethical behaviour of trying to scam gamers into buying a completely broken game. As always, my advice is never to buy games from unethical developers, because it's putting your money at risk, as well as causing harm to the industry. If these factors are important to you, it may be worth holding off before buying this game.[/quote] Original review follows: Lucky me gets to write the first (and possibly only) review for Demon Runner The Forsaken. This game was intended to be a 2D retro "Metroidvania" style platformer with speedrunning elements. As the screenshots show, the graphics would have been pretty bad. I say "would have been" because this game cannot be played. The developer has accidentally or deliberately blanked the game manifest, so no files are downloaded when you install the game, and attempting to launch the game results in a "missing executable" error. Because this game is fundamentally broken, and cannot be played, I cannot recommend anyone should buy it.

I was having a blast with this game. Its fun and challenging, graphics are amazing, the overall game play is fun lot of the levels are unique.

This game is frustratingly fun, and very challenging. It definitely helps kill the time and keeps you interested with all the upgrades you can get throughout the game. As much as I want to try my best to speedrun it, it's difficult because you can get extremely excited and all of the sudden fall to your death miscalculating a jump. i can play this game for hours and get all the enjoyment possible with what it was created for. definitely worth checking out
