Defentron is a pretty relaxing game, despite being a tower defense. The retro look and sound are well done and suitably nostalgic, without needing to rely on gratuitous particle effects, waves, or flashes like some other retro games or genres like to use. The different types of towers all have fun and unique properties, and the enemy variety and additions from stage to stage kept me thinking a good amount, rather than finding one strategy I liked and just using that on everything. Being able to power up a given turret in a pinch was cool too, but if I have one criticism about that mechanic's game balance, it's that it feels necessary to use that function on the basic turrets (at least for the early game), which destroys them afterwards, and it felt like a bit of a waste. That is, instead of trying to plan out placement or turret types to counter different contingencies, I felt like I had to budget my resources to account for "necessary losses" rather than just "acceptable losses," which made it feel less like a puzzle game at those parts, and more like the traditional gratuitous enemy spam TD games that I don't like nearly as much as this one. All of the other towers' temporary power ups felt good to me, and I'm pretty sure I found uses for all of them at one point or another. I never felt like one strategy or leaning on specific tower for everything would have worked, and the difficulty increase from wave to wave never made me feel at a loss for what I could do differently. The game also has a good number of different levels (each one introducing new turrets and enemy types), and I enjoyed trying to complete them to unlock the "secret" stages, rather than simply clearing them. Like with all games I like, I wish there were more levels and stages to play, but none of the gimmicks felt over-used to me. I think the number of stages per level is a comfortable amount for what I needed to learn, and how many times I had to retry some of them. Suffice to say, this is a cool, smooth tower defense game that's easy to pick up and play. You don't have to worry about any overly-complicated systems or mechanics, but there is enough strategy and reaction involved that it's not just "set up turrets and go AFK." And to say again: the aesthetic and sound are both satisfyingly retro.
Defentron is a fun tower defense, and certainly a challenging one. Many levels can really get you stuck until you figure out the right sequence of towers and upgrades to buy, but that difficulty gives the game a lot more longevity and replayability, specially if you are going to try and complete all achievments. It took me 14 hours to complete everything the game had to offer, which I feel is a good value for the pricetag
Definitely not easy but if you're up for a challenge, look no further! It's fast passed, colourful and downright just fun to play. highly recommend
Un tower defense que combina los fundamentos basicos de estos juegos con una tematica estilo TRON. Muy adictivo y que se ira complicando cada vez mas y mas. Solid TD game which provides a challange with a great overall theme. Certainly recommended!
Fun tower defense game. Also, good if you like a challenge.
An epic game for epic gamers.
A classic little tower defense with a synthwave aesthetic and catchy soundtrack like it says on the tin. Level difficulty can ramp up quite quickly between levels though new elements get added at frequent enough intervals to keep subsequent levels fresh. Limited tower AI makes thoughtful placement and sequencing important and mechanics like overdrive offer a few different ways to approach levels. Originally picked up Defentron on Switch and enjoyed paying through it with the touchscreen controls which were nicely integrated.
Great game with a great challenges. Making a good use of the speed up and pause features really helped get through the game and it was more challenging than other tower defense games I've played in the past! Highly recommend giving it a play if you're up for quite the challenge.
I am loving this game. The game play is simple, but the game can be challenging. You set up various defense towers on a predetermined route and add new towers/upgrade towers during the battle. Sounds super easy, but you have to try it to see how challenging it becomes. Definitely going to keep this on on my play often list.
