The game expects you to communicate and play WITH your team but it punishes you and doesn't give any time to actually do that so you end up with 4 players running around playing individual games that often get in the way of progression. Certain enemies are really spongy and you can empty entire clips into them without making a lot of progress and the fliers zip all over and are really difficult to pin down. GL hitting anything from over mid range because everything is SUPER fast (and/or invisible). And progression feels pointless because you don't actually unlock anything that matters. You basically lose until you get enough points to force your way through winning.
I'd rather play Deep Rock
This game has been nothing but disappointing. They took everything that was fun in DRG and did the opposite. Missions = Way too long Ammo = randomly placed into Narnia. 0 scaling for player count, forcing you to play with a team of 4. If anything you are punished for playing with less than 4 people by removing potential ammo slots.
Developers are doing everything they can to keep me away from the game. They don't want me to play it. They make game harder and harder, but they absolute do nothing with bugs that come from classic DRG - Hits through walls. While this was tolerable in DRG, it's become unbearable in the DRG:RC — shooting enemies break through walls, melee hit through walls, and your projectiles do nothing with it and u cannot strike back. Me and my friends just got out of a losing streak, learned how to play on Deep 4, our win rate increased to ~30-40%, but they rolled out a new update. The latest update was accompanied by the message "we focused on making sure the bosses can better withstand high-powered players" and "More Reaperworm pressure" that sound like: "Players are getting too strong at the end, so we've buffed bosses and removed the ability to level up easily throughout levels.". Rushing from one extreme to another. To prevent players upgrade too much after timer they add much more Worms and make them immune to elemental damage but forgot to fix their direct damage response - they become completely immune to anything at random moment and no one will help you. Besides, I've hated time limits since I was a kid. I come to play for fun, not to sweat running from point A to point B. The original idea of a strict time limit, and the way it got stricter with each update, was really bad, so I realized it too late. If this continues the game will become unplayable.
It pains me to say this as a hardcore Deep Rock Galactic fan; I really wanted to love Rogue Core, but in its current state, I cannot recommend it. Perhaps when it comes out of early access I'll give it another go to see how far it has come. Hopefully, then my opinion will change.
Not fun in long run.
Can't and won't recommend this to anyone who's familiar with DRG. Now it's a steaming pile of garbage with alot of issues starting from core game design and finishing with small moments such as you can't see Bosco while holding out pointer as he is carrying workbench toolbox. Hopefully GSG will learn something from this launch small edit: Would've refunded if had read all the reviews sooner and watched videos on youtube
Shameless cash-grab insult to the original DRG. Spent more than two years in the oven only to come out still raw and undermixed with some sprinkles on top.
