I don't really understand that a game you released last year, instead of making it better, You open playtest for sequel? Makes no sense to me whatsoever. How could possibly a sequel be so far in the works when this game is so severely lacking? The game is good, but I have quit the game several times out of boredom. There are so many things that could've been done better. Very disappointing that a game that could've been great, turns out to be money out the window. shame
Decent enough framework for an interesting game, but the devs immediately pivoted and are releasing a sequel in barely over a year since this came out. This game would have been great if the new game was a DLC with a pivot to the systems instead of leaving players scratching their heads. This game has a completely unfinished story that leaves off at the climax of the story, and its a huge let down.
TLDR: They decided to make a sequal, instead of finishing their current game.
I very rarely post reviews, but I feel like the curent situation pushes me to do so. I'll start by saying what I think of the game since I don't want people to stop reading because my review is too long. The game is a lot of fun, your builds can be quite diverse and still work (except in the higher difficulty levels), and the story is there, but if you don't care and don't want to pay attention to it, it won't be a problem. You may need to take time strategize at the start of each room in higher difficulties, but it can get quite hectic once you start the room. This game is possibly the FPS game I've enjoyed the most. So if you like going to enemies, learn and adapt to their behavior, and get stronger as you shooty shooty bang bang on them, I 100% recommend it. --------------------- Now for the current situation: I'm seeing a lot of negative reviews because they announced Dead zone rogue 2. Not because the game is bad or lackluster (I mean, so many of those negative reviews have over 40 hours of gameplay, so it can't be that the game is bad), but because they announced a sequel. I get it. It's not negative reviews about the game, but about the devs/publisher and their decision. But I disagree with these user's view of the situation. These people think the game is unfinished, I disagree. The gameplay is well made, doesn't feel rough, and the story does end on a note where it feels like a sequel could make sense. I'm guessing the only real reason they think it's not finished is how the end is. The way I see it, the next part of the story would either be a rushed ending as part of the first game, or a proper ending in a sequel. If you ask me, if they put enough effort into making Dead zone: rogue 2, I will be happier that they made a sequel even though it means I have to buy it, rather than give us a rushed additional area for free in order to get that ending people seem to think they're owed. And that level of entitlement seems crazy to me: In my opinion, the game was already worth its price before they added the last two areas and the mechanics that came with them (although I will say I got it on sale, but I still think it would be the same if I didn't). These areas were added for free when they obviously required work from the devs. In my opinion, we already got more than we paid for, and some people are still whining about having to pay to get more game. Obviously, IF the sequel is half-baked, clunky, or simply isn't deserving of being its own game, THEN people should yell, but they should yell about the sequel itself, not the first game. I feel like the current flood of negative reviews is too early and undeserved (yet).
This game is fun for a few hours if you get it on deep sale. Screw the devs who used it as a cash grab by announcing sequel before even finishing polish on this turd. It was fun, but not what was promised and the sequel looks to be a clone.
Wild announcing a sequel when this game isn't finished/polished yet at all. We assume this means abandonware and the updates and fixes will be absent from here on for this game even though it was just released from early access.
I really enjoyed the game, But how the hell do you announce a sequel to a game that is barely a year old !! I feel like this developer is just here for the quick cash grab. Take your money and move on, its feels like abandonware at this point.
Got this for a couple of buddies and genuinely enjoyed it. But to announce a sequel when this is arguably not done and denying DLC for the excuse they gave is a joke.
Already making a 2 and leaving an unfinished game?
