These devs not even a full year of release into deadzone 1 and already got a demo for deadzone 2???? Like really?? Not to mention Deadzone 1 lacks content... you can complete the game around 30 hours.. DO NOT SUPPORT THESE GUYS!!!! Shady af
I had a lot of fun playing this game. I like rogue-likes, but I'm not a huge FPS player. I come back to this game for a couple hours at a time, and it has not been disappointing. The gameplay is fun and smooth, even on my 3060ti. The mid-game was a bit of a grind, but once you upgrade all your different stats it gets much easier to have long satisfying runs. Lots of different enemies with quite a bit of variety in the mechanics you have to deal with. I wouldn't say there is something revolutionary about any of them, but they are fun to discover, and there was a few times that I had to completely rethink how I was doing things. The story is good. Again, it may not be the most original idea you've ever seen in space, but it's fun. You don't have to engage with the story too much if you don't want to, though. That fact is something I appreciate from the devs. I found it much more enjoyable to stumble across things that had some significance to the story instead of sitting through drawn out cutscenes. The world building is done in a way that you can sort of tailor how much you engage with it. That is pretty impressive for a game that takes place entirely in a ship that is essentially a straight line. I don't want to spoil anything from the end of the game, but I found the revelations you get after beating the third sector to be well worth the trouble of getting there. If you just want to beat the game and see all it has to offer, get the "Melee kills turn you invisible" perk. It makes it absolutely free (maybe rework that perk, devs). If you want to actually feel the difficulty, don't do that. Definitely recommend this game
To be honest the game is so close to be one of the best games ive played in awhile, However the overly complicated upgrade system and build system paired with over the top "cheese" AI behaviour in any difficulty above normal really strips alot away from the game. At any given point (usually at higher levels) the AI will just randomly go from challenging/continiously getting stronger to Unlimited healthpool, x1000000 DMG and hyper agressive behaviour. It's like the game just decides you're going back to the beginning out of nowhere, not because i genuinly got overwhelmed or worn down. Cheese AI instadeath Making your last 45 mins of playtime all for nothing.
abadonware, to make an even worse running sequel in new engine
Do it for Planty. He needs you.
Before buying the game, I read reviews and was worried all the positive reviews saying the same "dont listen to the people that are mad they are moving on to the 2nd one" were bots or paid for because they were so similar. But, oh my god, screw EVERYONE leaving bad reviews because they are moving on. I picked it up for $12 on sale, but after playing it for 1 day, I would have paid full price and been more than happy. This game has plenty of content for it's price tag and there is nothing I have found wrong that they need to "support". I bought it 2 more times for my friends and still feel like it was worth the money. Even if you don't repeat runs on expert or nightmare, if you play through all the content on any difficulty and don't feel like you got your money's worth (even at $30) then maybe you're the problem tbh.
Extremely fun
