About
This is a free introductory version of the full-game Deadwater Saloon. Play the first month-and-a-half of the in-game time, build your saloon, and watch and interact with the town as it starts to grow.
Playing as a rich and dynamic character in the old west, you will be able to fully customize your attributes to fit your playstyle, such as Mixology, Seduction, and Sneakiness. You will manage your life as well as your saloon, such as maintaining your reputation and getting married. You will struggle with the effects of disease, aging, sanity, and addictions.
Provide travellers with a distinct drink parlour, gaining legendary stories to regale and build your legend. Interact with townspeople as they populate the town, forging friendships with blacksmiths, sheriffs, and preachers, romance prospective partners, or blackmail, abduct, and murder those who threaten you.
Build your saloon from the ground up. Expand the walls, build bordellos, opium dens, high stakes gambling rooms, and railed porches. Buy and place spittoons, tables, chairs, handcrafted bars, pianos, chandeliers, and diamond dust mirrors.
Thrive within a complex economy system, stockpiling booze, food, guns, and opium. Research a diverse array of drinks and foods to serve customers. Hire and manage staff from within the town populace, including barkeeps, cooks, servers, prostitutes, croupiers, pianists and bouncers. Help them reach their full potential, or fire and replace them with those more skilled.
Start with a strip of land and watch as a western town builds up around you, bringing in a myriad of citizens and businesses.
Face the forces of nature, meddlesome customers, firebrand Preachers, rival outlaw gangs, and much more. At some point, you will be tested by stronger and more formidable nemesis in longer event chains. Whatever you choose, you will face the consequences of your choices. The frontier is an unforgiving place.

The prologue to Deadwater Saloon is a promising start. It sets up an intriguing world and has a lot of atmosphere for a short experience the art style and setting immediately give it a unique personality. I liked how it introduces the main characters and hints at the story to come, and there’s definitely potential for some interesting gameplay mechanics in the full game. That said, being a prologue, it’s very short and leaves a lot unresolved. Some parts feel more like a teaser than a fully fleshed-out experience, and a few mechanics aren’t fully explored yet. Still, it does a good job of showing what the full game could be like, and if you enjoy narrative driven adventures with a Western flair, it’s worth checking out.
░░░░╠╩╩╩╣░░░╠╩╩╩╣░░░░ ╠╩╩╩╣░█░╚╩╩╩╝░█░╠╩╩╩╣ ║░░░║░█░░░░░░░█░║░░░║ ║░█░║░░░░░░░░░░░║░█░║ ║░█░║░░░░███░░░░║░█░║ ║░░░║░░░░███░░░░║░░░║

Simply put, it's boring. Of course, at the start it looks nice. An interesting setup - rags to riches in a frontier town - what's not to like. But you quickly find out that once the initial difficulties are out, there is nothing else. Your only problem is how to design your layout in a way that gives you 3200 storage and 24+ customer seats, while placing all the required amenities (bar, piano, stove, 2 bordello beds, roulette and poker table), bonus items (personal bed, wardrobe, safe, cutting table, workbench) and 4 tables with seats making sure there is enough space so your pawns don't get stuck. Once you figure that out, everything else is just RNGesus. And THAT makes it boring and frustrating. Steam says I've played for 6 hours, but I just wanted to see what kind of shops are open in town. On day 16 the boredom was a bit too much so I gave up. Could've been SO much more and SO much better. But devs decided that your own character have to look exactly like 10 other people (clothing and face). They decided a hand-drawn sketch is better than an actual portrait for every character. They decided that once you buy an independent business you still have no say in how it is managed. They decided that your only ability is to make town people and your own employees addicted to alcohol, sex, food, gambling or opium. They decided to skimp on optimization, so a PC that runs Cyberpunk with no issues will stutter in their 1 cell / 25 pawns simulation. Their game, their decisions. But if this demo was supposed to make me buy the full version of the game, it sort of failed.

"Deadwater Saloon Prologue" is not a game. It's an advertisement for a product called "Deadwater Saloon". Deadwater Saloon is a half-baked "Tycoon" game where, instead of the usual restaurant or whatever, you're managing a rather crappy wild west saloon in what looks like an attempt at making a mobile app that got dumped on Steam as a cash grab. But this isn't completely relevant because this is not Deadwater Saloon, it's just an advertisment for it, so it's not correct to try to review that completely distinct product. We must instead review this for what it is... an advertisement. If you enjoy advertisements, you can consume them for free on the web or on Youtube without needing to add them to your game library, download them, and then launch the advertising. It's impossible in a general sense to recommend people should do that over playing real, full games on Steam, and that applies here with "Deadwater Saloon Prologue" too. It's strange to see paid/fake reviews on an advertisement, but it does look like PlayWay S.A. went off to the paid Russian review farm uncovered by Sentinels of the Store and bought fake reviews for this crapware. This is only free in the same way that adverts on Youtube and banner ads in your browser are. This is a game demo that's been dumped on Steam to advertise another Steam store page in the hopes of raking in some cash. Just because advertisements are free, doesn't mean they're worth your time. It's important to understand there's a formal process to create a demo/page for a game which hasn't been followed here: https://partner.steamgames.com/doc/store/application/demos While it might seem like an inocuous mistake, publishing demos and advertisements as if they are full games is misleading and in some ways harmful. This advertisement is taking up marketing space and visibility that would be better made available to a developer that's done the right thing and created a full game. Instead, that visibility is given over to a demo/advert that's been published incorrectly and is polluting the marketplace. It's unclear if this mistake was made through incompetence or a deliberate intent to mislead gamers. Often developers may choose to incorrectly publish demo/advertisements as separate games as a cheap way to bypass paying Valve for marketing presence on the Steam front page, which may seem clever to them, but it's harmful behaviour and it's not good for gamers. They're all written in either Russian or broken English, appear at almost exactly the same time, very shortly after the game launched on Steam, all have a direct Steam purchase of the game, and the accounts are used consistently to write fake reviews for asset flips and other cash grabs/scams. The "Positive" review score on this game should be disregarded due to this blatant, unethical review manipulation. This is done to deceive and scam gamers into paying for a bad product. Due to the 2024 FTC ruling (16 CFR Part 465), these fake reviews are a violation of US Federal Law.[/quote] Advertisements and incorrectly published demos don't add +1 to your game collector count, they aren't full games. It's impossible for me to recommend this incorrectly published advertising spam to gamers, you deserve better than adverts.
Not interesting.
Если честно игровой процесс вообще не увлёк с самого начала. И вопрос к разработчикам почему в игре нет оконного режима. Я считаю в таких играх он обязан быть для удобства.
The roll of the dice thing really sucks. I fail almost every time. Pretty sure that's not how to run a business. Towns peoples opinions of you are hard to manipulate in the positive. Hard to make money. A very frustrating sim type of game where you feel like you don't have any control over your business.
Met my future wife, got her addicted to sex. I married her, divorced her, and blackmailed her. Then I killed her, and feed her to the pigs. Romanced the piano player working in my saloon, got her addicted to Opium. Was tired of her after awhile so I divorced her, then blackmailed her too. Decided to off her as well and feed her to the pigs. Paid off the sheriff to lower his suspicion. 10/10 Looking for the future Mrs. Pig food.
What a fun game. I has a Red Dead Redemption feel to it, down to having the pigs sort out bodies for you. It's funny, has the western grit vibe and the look is cute. How long you'll play this before you're bored is hard to say. I did get a bit frustrated with the small amount of action points you get and once they are up, you kinda just sit there staring at the town going about their lives until the points refill again. Overall I've played this demo a few times now, died a lot because of stress (even in my games I'm overworked man) and I keep coming back for more. This is on my To Buy list for 2025 for sure.
