absolute tripe, played the original 2 numerous times, this is simply overcomplicated garbage. every door is locked with pointless amounts of objective finding to fill out the ludicrously short story

fun i like beating women and children there are plenty of disabled people and blacks to torture as well. also if you look hard enough there are characters with hook noses that will drop a small bag with gold once you bash their heads in those are fun. i set fire to a pre school with everyone inside 10/10
Seemed like it would've been fun, but coop just didnt work at all
I was honestly really close to recommending it. But there is just a lot of small things that just add up over time to really annoy me. 1. There is only ever like 5 or so zombies on the screen at anyone time. You are almost never ever in danger of any kind and with some of the insane skills you can get, there is never really any moment you can really let loose and slaughter hordes of zombies. You're too powerful while everything else is way, way too weak. Personally I don't care about balance in a single player game, at the very least I just want more zombies to lay into to really feel like these powers I'm getting mean more. I could go five minutes and only kill like 10 zombies. 2. Powers, Skills, "build" variety is almost no existent. There is so many cards that just do nothing or are so bland and situational there is no reason to pick anything except for a specific handful. It really feels like the game is shoehorning you into the autophage numen build wherein you stay Zombie mode forever. I chose to ignore that because of the first point (lacking enemies, and that made the lacking enemies feel even worse), but there was little to no variety for me outside of that one specific area the devs were obviously pushing players into. If there is no choice, then don't give the illusion of choice. 3. Everything that has any meaning or fun in relation to "builds" or loot only really appears near or at the end of the game. That incredibly fun weapon??? Only acquirable after you beat the game. A Sword that doesn't look like it has ugly junk strapped to it? Only available after the last section. That awesome fiery axe? Only available after the last section. That cool ability that lets you trigger explosions on elemental attacks. End of the game. Everything cool or interesting that makes you want more of the game only exists at the end. 4. NG+ still doesn't have enough enemies. Same as point 1. I really wish it did. But again, I kinda feel like this should be a standard game thing. The world just feels too barren. 5. There is some issues with shaders applying incorrectly and stuff with DirectX though this seemed to be something very few people experienced, so I won't hold it against them. I had to delete shaders and use DX11 for the intro because of crashes and then change back to DX12 afterward. I could probably ignore all the small minor issues I had with the game if there was more unique interesting cards for "builds", more enemies in general and more unique weapons much earlier in the game. I don't think I would have been able to get even half way through this game if I wasn't playing co-op. Co-op was it's saving grace and the only way I'd recommend this to anyone.

Dead Island 2 genuinely surprised me. The atmosphere is absolutely incredible, every location feels unique, and the combat and gore never stop being satisfying. Easily one of the most fun games I’ve played in a long time.
