How long can you survive a post-apocalyptic world? A land overrun with an infected "zombie" population, where you compete with other survivors for limited resources. Will you team up with strangers and stay strong together? Or play as a lone wolf to avoid betrayal? This is DayZ – this is your story.

I really wanted to like DayZ. The premise is great — open-world survival, zombies, tension with other players — but the execution is exhausting rather than fun. Performance issues: Even years after release, the game still stutters and crashes randomly. I've lost hours of progress to desync and server resets. Loot doesn't always sync properly, and sometimes you just fall through the map for no reason. Steep, unfriendly learning curve: There's basically zero onboarding. You spawn on a beach with nothing, no idea where to go, and if you don't already know the mechanics (or don't look up a wiki), you'll die confused within ten minutes. That might be "realistic," but it's not welcoming. Combat feels bad: Gunplay is clunky and inconsistent. You can die instantly to a sniper you never saw, or empty a full mag into someone at close range because of hit-reg issues. It rewards patience and camping over actual skill half the time. Toxic player base in places: PvP servers can be filled with players who exist purely to hunt down fresh spawns with nothing to lose but their time. It's not fun being killed repeatedly with zero chance to defend yourself, especially early on. Slow, tedious loop: Walking for 20+ minutes to find a town, only to get killed by another player or a bug, and having to start completely over, gets old fast. The tension is great in short bursts but grinding is a big part of the game, and grinding while this jank-prone isn't rewarding. If you love hardcore survival sims and don't mind jank, you might find something to love here. But for most players, the frustration outweighs the payoff.

The artstyle and sound design of the game are so good. When nothing is happening and I'm just running through the woods, I can feel and smell the wind
Played it for 67 hours and I've had about 10 mins of fighting and actual fum and 66 hours of walking. PEAK
