For many years, the zeitgeist has held it so that male gaming fanatics are lesser in understanding of the fairer sex.
If a gamer, and by extension, a game developer, would lack the ability to understand women, this game is an aberration. But I believe the contrary to be true: in fact, I think this proves that the gamer population have an excellent mastery of both the fairer sex.
The amazing, and lifelike experience of the courtship of a girl is portrayed excellently thru the abstract and highly intellectual vessel of matching tiles brandished with fruits and colors. It is a portrayal of the utmost accuracy to see the female psyche expressed with such expertly crafted brevity. In order to, as the creator puts it, "pleasure" your partner in this game, you can cause her to swoon head over heels with you by simple consistency. Match the tiles at a regular pace with appropriate intervals, and she'll begin expressing her adoration towards you. A beautiful set of character art in a rather ugly low resolution juxtaposes the change in her behavior as time passes. Rather than simply a random woman you approached on the street and began solving Mahjong in front of, you take her to nicer and nicer restaurants and places. Your tile-solving flattery is rewarded with her dressing in nicer and looking at you differently. Her cold, pixelated, large eyes grow warm with the adoration of love. Rather than a simple stranger you become a person with whom she seeks to spend her life.
By the conclusion of the game, she goes home with you. As stunning as ever under the moonlight in your home, she watches, blank faced, but still smiling, as you complete a Majhong in your living room. This game simply brought a tear to my eye, and has genuinely changed my outlook on video games. Perhaps they can be considered art, and not simply, an entertainment medium. Truly revolutionary.
