Dark Parables: Return of the Salt Princess Collector's Edition

45 minutes in and I had to quit because the cursor makes an annoying "hollow" sound every time you hover over new locations and the inventory bar. I love sound effects; they are essential for enjoyable gameplay, but these were too irritating to deal with. I found the graphics a bit blurry too, not as crisp as some other games which surprised me because other reviewers said the artwork is nice. (I agree it is nice, but it's not crystal clear, especially for a game released in 2018 I would have expected more clarity).

I loved this game.

I wish I could give this a neutral rating but as I can't then on balance I'd have to say yes, it's worth playing, but with the caveat that you skip most of the puzzles. The puzzles are not difficult but they take a long time to complete and are repeated multiple times with a slightly different skin on them. There could have been half as many puzzles and the game would have been more fun for it. In fact, the game as a whole overstays its' welcome by several hours. It's clear that the developers ran out of ideas half way through but instead of just trimming the game down to a more reasonable length they padded it out with re-used puzzles and telling the same bit of story in half a dozen different ways., to the point that when the characters finally start some kind of meaningful exposition you already know everything they are telling you. Sometimes more is not better; people would do well to remember that.

I have long been disappointed in the latter Dark Parable games. While I love the older ones, it feels like the newer ones have been hit or miss. But the Salt Princess is a big exception. It is (so far) my favorite game of the latter part of the series, and honestly one of my favorites overall. HO scenes are colorful and fun, a nice change from the Shadow game where everything was dark and not fun. Puzzles are a good amount of difficulty, even though I hated that one spinning match puzzle they completed. I felt this was one of the best storylines of the series, so far. It had a great and very complex plot which was great. It actually made me sad at one point near the end, but I won't reveal what-cause spoilers. But overall great entry to the series, and I'm happy to see the series back up to it's original quality. From what I understand this is when Blue Tea Games took back control, and thank goodness for that!

I really enjoyed the story telling in Dark Parables: Return of the Salt Princess, including the bonus story! The settings were gorgeous and fun to explore. However, I did find the HOB scenes a bit repetitive in nature as the object of all was to put together an object. The mini games were a bit more difficult also with little variety, so I ended up skipping through many of them. Overall though, the storytelling and characters was well worth the play through!

i really like the Dark Parables series and the game was good as usual. I wish I knew what the achievments I didn't achieve were.

Great game for fable lovers and especially female players :)
