While I wont be leaving a positive review of this game I want it to be clear that I do not think the game is bad. If I had to summarize it would be "under-cooked". My primary critique is the "Bimbosis" as a mechanic is underutilized. As it stands it's just a game over sequence that has six variants. These only vary on your location and no other factors. Neither enemy types or how the heroines fall in battle effects the game over sequences. I think the game has a good pitch, it just needs more exploration of its ideas for it to really stand out. As it is, the game is "okay". Not bad but nothing to stick around for which is what it needs.
FIRST AND FOREMOST: IT CANNOT BE OVERSTATED THAT YOU MUST BE OF LEGAL AGE TO PLAY THIS GAME. IF YOU ARE NOT, THEN YOU SHOULD NOT EVEN BE LOOKING AT THIS REVIEW, LET ALONE THE PAGE FOR THE GAME. Now to our regularly scheduled review... Hot off the heels of Veronica and Victoria's Bodies, here comes another grand slam. In terms of the gameplay, the developer continues to test and hone their craft. The QTEs for enemy attacks helps keep focus on the battle so that the player doesn't get bored, though that would be quite impossible considering both the lovely artwork by returning artist Zinovia-star and the bondage subject of the game. And even if you did lose your mind, it will be at your on peril, quite literally as (depending on both progression and chosen difficulty) this game can be difficult. Much of this can come from afore said bondage making it difficult to act against your enemies. But this is doable, just don't overestimate yourself and make sure to get in fights for that XP. Atmosphere, the game is a nice chance of pace, going for a comic-book style that further helps give this game an identity over it's predecessors. And the choices for the different worlds, from enemy design to music, are a nice touch to. I will admit the lack of transformation was a drawback at first, but this game revels in it's own fun so much that you can't help but enjoy it. To put it in perspective, this game has given me some new fantasies. That should tell you how good this is. Another good game from a developer that deserves all the support they can get.
The game is pretty fun on normal mode and easy mode, but it's an actual nightmare (for me at least) on its nightmare new game+ mode. Way too much grinding in my opinion and that's with all the skill purchased in its previous run.
Story
You play as Bondgetta have been teamed up with Heatstroke to defeat Dr. Adelle "Ada" Vice.
Gameplay
All of the cutscenes in this game are much longer than they need to be, to the point where you just start skipping through them as fast as you can to get to the action. Sure there is a story there, but you spend more time getting through the story than you do playing the actual game. The combat is rigged as the only way you can get to the action scenes is to lose. Supposably you can press the arrow keys to avoid attacks and damage. The reality is any attack the will bind your character hits, then you need to spend at least one turn trying to get out of being bound. It isn't fun, it is dull, boring, and will only serve to make you want to quit playing the game. Enemies do not remained cleared out, if you leave an area and come back they respawn. The "action scenes" are still images with text.
The Gallery
There are six different scenes. I'm assuming that you get one every time you lose a specific level. I say assume because I'm not going to waste my time getting more than the first two.
Final Verdict
I DO NOT recommend this game. After wading through cuts scenes that will bore you to tears you get to combat that cheats so you will lose. Great art style and bimboization content. I wish there was more out of combat and longterm effects like in Veronica's Body. I hope to see more bimbo stuff from this dev! Only downside is it's a bit grindy.
Really enjoying this game. The combat has several unique elements to it that keeps it engaging and fresh, especially as you encounter new enemies that have different special attacks that you have to watch out for. You also have to juggle several different values to ensure you don’t lose a fight, and some special abilities actually cost HP, giving the combat a more strategic feel to it. Sometimes an enemy might trigger a QTE event, and depending on the type, you might actually want to do the opposite of the prompt, which gives the combat another engaging angle. The story is decent and moves at a good pace. The "content" we are all here for is also good, and is in the battles themselves, making it more intertwined throughout the game. One nice feature, is that if you beat the boss, you can still view the defeated scene later without having to reload and lose that fight on purpose. In short, I find the game challenging but rewarding. There is some grinding involved, but I find the combat to be enjoyable so I didn't mind it. Solid recommend.
I liked "Damsels of Vice" overall. I struggled at first, even on the easiest difficulty, but once I got the hang of it, I enjoyed the combat and found the story interesting enough. The game is quite short, though, unless you have a hard time with the fights as I initially did. Indeed, the time spent will depend greatly on how quickly you can deal with the enemies and whether or not you will need to grind to level up. Storywise, it cannot be more than an hour or two, but it is definitely worth a playthrough. The mature content was fine, and the transformation themes were handled well. While the game has its flaws, the unique mechanics kept me engaged until the end. (6/10)
Enjoyable game. Waiting for the second game set in this universe, which is currently planned to be coming out in March 2023.
Also a lackluster game. Very little fun bits to see, and the combat is annoying.
