Pretty fun, although I think a bigger arena with faster-paced combat would suit it quite nicely.
Cyber Slayer is a student project from the Digipen Institute of Technology. It's a rather well made 2D top down wave survival shooter with a plethora of technical quirks and ingenious programming. From a technical perspective, the game meets basic minimum requirements that most PC gamers expect as standard. There's no options to change the resolution for the game or customise the graphics settings. There's no way for gamers to ensure this is running at the native resolution of their displays... there's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this unique design decision. There's no way for gamers to try improve the low quality graphics. The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers. This is all clearly intentional to enhance the souls-like learning curve, and personally it's a a bold and refreshing choice. The very high quality of this game puts it squarely on-par with ancient 1990's Flash/Java games, and given it's 2022 (and this was released not so far back in 2022), gamers and the industry expect and deserve exactly this masterpiece. These technical defects push this game high above acceptable standards for any modern PC game. I'm not sure the students passed the course here. I AM sure they SURpassed it. Digipen should really only be publishing games from students that passed the course. Trying to use this as example of their game development skills will get them the marketing they desperately need and is their clear next stepping stone to the big leagues.. As for gamers... well, because this was a student project, it was clearly designed with gamers in mind and does offer a deep, rich and enjoyable gaming experience that professionally developed games can only hope to compete with, so I can recommend it.
Gave it a shot 5 different times. On all these 4 different occasions the executable stuck on exact same time. Between transition of wave 3 to wave 4. After 2 failures I reseted my PC and did Mem Reduct, arranged my BiOS tweaks, did a factory reset profile on MSI Afterburner, made sure windows graphics settings were launching on proper GPU and RTSS turned off and on 3rd it still failed on the exact same place, Then I switched a PC for the 4th before launching and did same resets for the 5th but looks like it is not personal computer(s) problem but the game engine. Too bad it really looked like a decent time killer/high score sort of top-down shooter game so I am giving it a thumbs up for that reason. Hope the devs fix it some time, good luck and best wishes in your careers!
Pretty fun game but very basic. If this was fully fleshed out with a team of developers working on it with a storyline and better graphics this could be an amazing game. Still a good game :)
neat arena top down shooter with cool graphics
