A full-course meal of a game consisting of plenty of delectable and savoury gameplay garnished with lively visuals. Said visuals consist of some very nice pixel art with lovely pictures for each individual dish as well as showing in the backgrounds with plenty of detail and vibrant yet not overpowering colours. There is a good amount of variety in the environments and the designs for the ingredients are simple yet effective. As a special treat the menus are stylized like a restaurant menu or a cookbook, which is always great to see and a strong indicator for artistic quality! Parallel to the visuals the sound design of the ingredients is also fun. The soundtrack is energetic enough to keep you alert, but not too fast as to make you anxious. How each ingredient behaves as an enemy fits them very well playing on their individual traits regarding taste or healthiness such as the turmeric, some of their plant behaviour such as the pineapple and sometimes also their names such as the ghost pepper. Needless to say there is a great variety to them! The levels too are varied, a particular standout was the coconut level during the last area which I feel also acted as a bit of a foretaste of the bonus levels which present a couple of new unique challenges. While there certainly is challenge to the game, especially if one aims for all achievements with getting three stars for every dish and completing all bonus levels, it is also well-balanced and increases gradually. Even the last couple of bonus levels shouldn’t become frustrating even if they require a couple of tries. This is one of the instances where you find more effective paths and get notably better at the gameplay while playing. All of these ingredients come together to create a truly solid game that makes the most out of its cooking theme with delicious ingenuity and a good presentation as the cherry on top! You can easily get great entertainment for an afternoon or two out of this one.

A neat little action platformer for the unbeatable price of free. Plenty of depth from the get-go and even just scratching the surface I can tell there's tons more to unlock. fun little game, it gets a bit challenging if you don't choose adding more health, but that makes the challenge interesting.
