It's a really fun little puzzle game with a good amount of levels and an interesting core mechanic. The simple but charming visuals and pleasant background music add to the experience. And the bonus puzzles hidden in some of the menus are quite fun as well.
Buy if you want a competent 3D grid-based puzzle game that doesn't overstay its welcome and isn't that difficult.
Gameplay
Your objective in each level is to move a cube to a goal. You move the cube in the six 3D cardinal directions (Up, Down, Left, Right, Forward, Backward). The cube moves until it hits something else. The game introduces new mechanics along the way. The marquee mechanic, which appears in the majority of levels, is toggling between 2D and 3D. The game is very clear about teaching its mechanics, always having several levels to gradually ease you into them. If anything, it does this a little too much. There were a few times where it was a little annoying to tell if things lined up in the 3D space. But I think that's hard to completely avoid and the game generally does a good job. The game has Hard levels that aren't required to progress. However, it does require you to complete all Normal levels to progress. That is too strict. But the game is overall not very difficult so it isn't quite as much of a problem as it would be in other puzzle games.
Length
Can 100% in 3-7 hours. 102 levels + 2 long levels. A lot are essentially teaching levels, so there are maybe more like 80 real levels. There are also 7 'secret' cubes that you can figure out how to navigate to in the overworld.
Chill puzzle game. A bit too long for my taste perhaps, took me a while to get the 100%.
Easily one of the best and most unique puzzle games I've played. Chill vibes and well designed puzzles with interesting mechanics.
Cubicatch is a short and fun puzzle game with great design. The game isn't too difficult as far as complexity is concerned, but the puzzles are varied and creative. The progression is well paced with new mechanics steadily introduced over the 100+ levels. The music is calm and relaxing as well. The menus and level select are a little confusing at first because they use the cube's movement mechanics instead of traditional directional navigation. However, this doesn't take long to get used to, and it results in many hidden secret puzzles. These optional challenges ended up being one of my favorite parts of the game. Cubicatch is an easy recommendation for puzzle enthusiasts, especially when there is a sale on the already low price.
Amazing puzzle game that deserve more recognition and players than this. The developer did a beautiful job it was amazing to watch his devlogs, and learn alongside him. The Puzzles are challenging, but beating a level that gives you a hard time feels like a huge win
great game ! probably one of the best sokoban-style game i've played. even though it may be a little short, it's well worth the price :) only missed opportunity i see is a level editor and workshop !
Really fun game with nice sound design. Works fine on Linux.
A fantastic hidden gem of 2024 in the puzzle genre. The design is amazing, and it's executed so cleanly. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone and I can't wait for the next game from Birchfruit!
