A surprisingly diverse and entertaining collection of three little gems from the talented team that gave us such masterpieces as "A Tale of Two Kingdoms" and "Heroine's Quest". Yes, it is a bit of irony that their big games are completely free, while the small games do cost a little. Still, it is finally a chance to express some gratitude to the developers - and at that, 'Crystal Shard Adventure Bundle' is totally worth its price! Here we have: 1) 'Quest for Yrolg' - it was the most interesting one for me: a kind of mix of classic point-and-click adventure game and, well, 'set-traps-and-lure-enemies-into-them' puzzle not unlike the classical 'Home Alone' game! Our inventory is limited with only one item, but the gameplay is non-linear, and invloves as many as six parts. First, we set traps for each of the three heroes we have to defeat, and then see them falling for our tricks. Quite an amusement! 2) 'Starship Quasar' - now, that's more classical point-and-click adventure game, but the surprise here is that we have four persons to play as, gaining access to them one by one, while trying to make them all friends again. Probably the only rather serious game in the collection, but still very fun! A robocat is included. 3) 'Larry Lotter and the Test of Time' - well, I am not at all familiar with that 'Harry Potter' character, so I may miss the whole fun of this parody. That's my least favorite game of the three; still, it has its own load of nice features like 'reversing time' and other magical spells that could and should be used. The only complain is that the quality of localizations (at least, that of Russian) is unfortunately far from being excellent - it would be better to play in English. In total, that was about four hours for me with different styles and subgenres - and probably one of the most memorable adventure experiences of 2016!
These are 3 great little P+C Puzzle/Adventure games for a great price
(Emphasis on the "puzzle" aspect.) Each game takes place in a "small" world (~6 screens or so), but the tagline on Steam is a little misleading: they can only be called "short adventure games" after you've figured out exactly what to do: they can be fiendishly difficult, in the style of classic Sierra games. "Short" does not mean "casual" -- an unaided playthrough is going to take a while. Each game also has interestingly different mechanics: In Quest for Yrolg you can only carry one item at a time, and need to set up a series of obstacle-courses to kill the incoming heroes. There's a lot of trial-and-error here, and learning how each of the 3 heroes acts and reacts. In Starship Quasar you can (eventually) switch between 4 different characters, each of whom has different skills and interacts with some objects differently. Your job is to re-unite the crew, relieve the captain of duty, and take a vacation. In Larry Lotter... you can re-set time and plan out your path for the day, sort of like in Majora's Mask (though on a smaller scale). Your goal is to help Larry "pass" his 3 exams. Again, a lot of trial-and-error as you figure out everyone's paths through the day, and when certain options/objects become available. Everything I've described here is implemented in a "minimal" fashion, but the bundle is well worth it if you're looking for not one, but three head-scratching games! Very nice bunch of adventures! They all share pretty graphics, great voice acting and very interesting plot. Quest for Yrolg. Very funny and well thought-out game. The puzzles remind those of early Sierra : easy to do, but hard to figure out. Features some realtime sequiences. Starship Quasar. IMHO, the best game in the pack. Classic adventure with an interesting twist. Larry Lotter and the Test of Time. Idea is great. Vice acting is amazing. Very hard to solve for those who prefer time-unrestricted adventuring.
Larry Lotter and the test of time - пародия на Гарри Поттера, где он предстает полным раздоблаем, просыпающимся после попойки в день экзаменов.
Meh. The three games are short, and not very interesting, or very engaging. They're not terribly bad, but nothing about them should make you spend the $ to buy them, unless on sale, or if you are very bored.
Very much enjoyed all three puzzles, especially Larry Lotter! The time-control mechanic was quite fun. The first and third games required some note-taking so I could get the items/timing right, but that was part of working through the puzzles. I've owned this one for a few years now, but I'm glad I finally played it!
A collection of 3 small adventure games, but don't be fooled in that you get relaxing classic traditional point and click games. Quest for Yrolg - You play as an imp having to stop 3 people, that you can summon to come at any time. But before that, you need to clear a path and set traps in which they have to walk in. some things are timed, and some things are even bugged. And you can also only take 1 item at a time. And if that isn't awful enough, you have a "clear it in 13 minutes" achievement which seems easy, as the game is small, but you still have to be very quick to get it. Starship Quasar - You play with a crew of 4 people, trying to relieve the captain. The downside of this is that you are going to switch often between characters, and switching items between them. Larry Lotter and the Test of Time - You play as Larry, a kid that has to pass his tests (without learning) the easy way. The downside of this game, is that it involves a clock, and certain actions only happen at certain times, combined that you have to find and learn like 12 spells all just being used once makes it tedious. Being short the stories are bland, and with the gimmicks these games uses, doesn't make for a relaxing sit and you will just want to grab the guide and finish these just to be done with them. If you want good and decent point and click adventures, check Crystal Shard's other games, but this just isn't it. 4/10.
