Crypt of the Gods

At the current time the build is about 2 months old from what i have learned from the developer, with that in mind i will still give my unbiased opinion. Most of the concerns and issues have already been fixed/patched. Having only played for 1hr at the time of the review, a fair portion spent trying to get the index controllers to work as it is only supported for the Oculus Rift at the current build ( I was told this is fixed in future update). The tutorial is impossible to die in and would take away from learning the game should you constantly die and have to start over. You learn quickly that this game requires you to do a lot of moving and shooting. standing still is almost instant death. The player calibration seems a bit wonky and could be tweaked, using over the shoulder or behind the body to grab gear is not new but feels sluggish and sometimes does not work. Imagine dying to an enemy while trying to reach for your weapon. Playing the game standing is preferred as i tried to do so in a seated position and could not get the different position changers to work. The lighting in the world is absolutely bonkers dreadful, everything is very dark, gloomy and sometimes very hard to even see what you are doing or aiming at. Enough of the bad, lets talk about some good things. The currency system used for shops is intuitive and encourages breaking every pot you find or scrutinizing every room to get that extra coin. Combat is fast paced and fun, definitely gives you a workout. your wrists have health and mana displays which is really neat. You can sprint, crouch and even blink around the environment, your movement options are limited but valuable and rewarding when used properly. The map is your most resourceful object, showing you where you are and even the stats of your character. You can even see where your character is as you move around. Final verdict: As i cannot give it in the middle rating i will go ahead and say that with a little TLC and some improvements, this game could be fun, thrilling, enjoyable and not to mention competitive as i heard they are working on a co-op mode. Pick it up and give it a go!
