Game will be Removed ... AGAIN ... on 1 May https://steamcommunity.com/games/2601270/announcements/detail/538852078391394620 for Preservation:
Cryoterror was the first game I ever released and I can now say that the project is fully completed and it is time to move on. Cryoterror was first released in late October 2023, an indie horror game that I had been working on for a while. In December 2023 I released Cryoterror 2.0. A major update that brought a lot of new features to the game and also Steam achievements. I had worked on the update for a while and it didn't bring the attention I expected to the game. So in January 2024 I decided to retire Cryoterror thinking that I would not come back to it. After a while in April 2024 my interest in further working on the project had reignited and I had the game unretired. I released another update that fixed everything (hopefully :D) that was broken with the game and completed the project. Now it has been over a year since the last update and I can now confidently say that Cryoterror is completed and will not see any further updates. The game will retire on the first of May at 6PM GMT. After which it will not be obtainable on the Steam store but you still get to keep the game forever. If you want you can still buy the game till the first of May and keep it forever in your Steam library. The reason I want to retire Cryoterror once and for all is because I want to move on and focus on other projects. I will never forget Cryoterror and the things I learned developing it. I am grateful for everyone who has played my game. Thank you! I know the game was never big but I hope at least a few people enjoyed playing it Thank you, VK (Cryodev)
Game was already Removed Jan 2024 until April 2024 Why he Remove it? because its "Complete" now WITH LAST UPDATE DONE IN 2023 ! Nope. Just Nope ! Please Retire This game and your Developer Account for Scamming People here on Steam with your Stories. you Tell us you worked Again After April 2024 on this game? Why no update? https://steamdb.info/app/2601270/patchnotes/ Game will come back soon and Developer will make this Again and Again? Who Knows. Time will Tell so far my 2 Cents: Stay away from this Game and Developer. Thanks. €: https://steamcommunity.com/app/2601270/eventcomments/4139437492723278800?snr=2_9_100003_
Cryoterror is going to be retired. The game failed to gain the intended popularity and due to further developing costs it will be going off Steam. I'm sorry for anyone who expected the game to be big some day. The game will stay in your Steam library even after the game is retired. If you still are interested in the game you have a few days to buy it and keep it forever in your Steam library.
Thanks Dear Developer to bring me your First Removal Announcement to Attention.
Recently i have continued to develop Cryoterror and i have decided to unretire the game, meaning that you can purchase the game from the Steam store again. Cryoterror will unretire tomorrow, April 11th at 6:00 PM GMT, which is 10:00 AM PST for North Americans. Cryoterror has also been updated with the new 2.1 update. A changelog for that update will be out when the game is unretired.
Played thru the full game and I think it was a nice experience. The main drawbacks were lack of voice overs and the last main puzzle which was oop. Otherwise very solid game for the price. Gameplay here: https://youtu.be/8K7N4c_SCmQ
I was able to get through most of it just fine, until the Puzzle where I had to rotate the Knobs to Open the Door. I grabbed the key, Opened the door and attempted to make my Exit. However I ran into an invisible Wall and I kept getting the message saying That I was Missing Something. I ventured back into the room and explored every inch of it, it was pretty bare So I could not find what I seemed to be missing and there was nothing to interact with. Sadly this was my Second Time Restarting this game in order to try and finish it. I got hit with that invisible wall bug again near the beginning of the game as well which Stopped me from going beyond the Cryo Pod Room. The Only other Real Issue I have with the Game is How Insanely Dark it is. Even with the Generator Being Fixed I still had a Hard time Seeing, and the Flashlight did not Illuminate Anything. I had to Hug the Wall throughout my play through in order to see where I was going. However It seems like this is Possibly the Developers First Game(?) Feel free to correct me if I'm Wrong. BUT you do have something here. I LOVE the Pixelated Graphics when I can see them and the Sound Design is very Nice. The Voice Pickup on your mic is a good touch, it adds some tension to the game for sure, because I don't know when to shut up or talk lol. Also Space Horror Games are great In General. The ONLY reason why I cant Recommend this game is the Invisible wall bug. I know it says your Retiring this game here soon, But I have to say. Please don't let this game Discourage you if you wanted to make more games in the future. You Clearly have Talent here and you run a Sensible and Fair Price for the Game.
This is a pretty good indie horror game. I really enjoyed the pixelation effects. They added to the spookiness of the game. It's not the longest game, but it's definitely worth the money in my opinion.
This game despite it's unique style choices is eye painfully dark, I understand some areas won't look good with brighter lights but this is just painful, you are basically sliding along the walls to see anything. On sale may be about the right price for it +70-80% off.
Beating a dead horse here, but I wanted to leave feedback in case the developer ever wants to make another game or perhaps give this one a third chance. Story and horror wise, the game wasn't actually half-bad. The monster was intriguing, the tasks were simple and it had a good atmosphere. The main issue with this game is the lighting, or lack thereof. The entire game is pitch-black. If you are not right up next to a wall, your flashlight is essentially useless. This turns the game into a wall-hugger simulator and more frustrating than anything else. If it wasn't for this lighting, I would gladly give the game a positive rating, but I cannot because of how inaccessible the game is. Dev, if you're reading this, you did a great job with the environment and mood. However, wandering around in the dark makes the monster the least of your concerns. With good lighting, would be a 7/10, but as it stands its a 3.5/10
about half a year late, but for anyone who still has this lying around unplayed in their library: it's really not worth your time, for the sole reason that you will burn out your retinas trying to see a single thing in this game. this has to be the worst lighting i've ever seen not just in any horror game, but any game period. i had to double-check every thirty seconds that my flashlight was even on, because every surface in the game apparently possesses the reflective properties of a black hole. how the devs were able to playtest it is beyond me, because at no point during my multiple playthroughs did visibility exceed three inches beyond my nonexistent feet. i would mention how the monster will sometimes kill you from another timezone, or how loading a save resets all event triggers so that you have to go through them again, but i don't think most players will be too concerned... considering they'll have turned off the game once they realize they just spent 3 calendar years hugging the wall, only to end up right back where they started. i wish cryodev well in their future endeavors, but hopefully their primary takeaway from this game is of what NOT to do.
Disappointed. Too dark and when walking up to a wall it would reflect so brightly there's be just a white circle. Audio mix was also unpleasant.
