Cry of Fear is a psychological single-player and co-op horror game set in a deserted town filled with horrific creatures and nightmarish delusions. You play as a young man desperately searching for answers in the cold Scandinavian night, finding his way through the city as he slowly descends into madness.

What a classic. I remember watching PewDiePie play this years ago and was scared to play it myself. Recently finishing a playthrough, I really enjoyed it a lot for what it was. It really captures a lot like that classic horror game aesthetic, and for as jank as some mechanics are running on the GoldSRC engine, I think it actually adds to it. The art style, music and general atmosphere is just really special for a first person shooter. Wish we got the Source engine remake.

The first time I booted up this game was 4 years ago on an old laptop and I already felt this is going to be a good one. I reached the final chapter on my laptop before switching to a better PC, but never finished it because I couldn't find any of my saves on my new PC when I installed it and I refused to get back to my laptop and finish it there. So because of that, I kinda lost my motivation to start Cry of Fear all over again until today, and it felt so good to rewind the memories and finally finish what I started years ago. Intense gameplay with puzzles here and there and a brilliant story and loads of extra content to keep you playing. My only negative experiences were a few crashes during the playthrough. I overall recommend this game to anyone looking for a psychological horror game for free.
