Cry of Fear is a psychological single-player and co-op horror game set in a deserted town filled with horrific creatures and nightmarish delusions. You play as a young man desperately searching for answers in the cold Scandinavian night, finding his way through the city as he slowly descends into madness.

its pretty fun, probably the best psycholigical horror game out there
scary but very fun
This game is absolutely great. Been a long time sense I've played, but I used to play through Cry of Fear all the time back when I was in High School between 2012-2016, when it was just another Half Life mod off the steam store. Story and gameplay are very unique. Cry of Fear touches on a lot of serious mental health topics such as suicide, homicide, hallucinations, self-harm, and generally extremely negative mental health themes. If any of these things seriously bother you, you will not enjoy this game This is a violent survival shooter exploring the deteriorating mental health of "Simon" following a bad car crash that left him half paralyzed (not a spoiler you find this out immediately upon starting the game). There are different ending depending on a few key choices during the playthrough. Cry of Fear is not a long game. First play through ever it will likely take you 5-8 hours to complete it. Each ending unlocks more content in the game so the incentive to keep playing is pretty high. After you get the hang of the game you'll easily be able to clear the whole game within 3-4 hours, and if your really good 2.5. There's a special achievement that unlocks an automatic weapon with unlimited ammo, but you have to beat the game within 2.5 hours, get only headshots and not miss once, extremely difficult and I've never completed this myself. Overall it's a very unique game that feels far longer than it actually is first time playing, and has a lot of replay value. Definitely worth trying. Cry of Fear is one of the greatest mods to ever come out of Half Life 1.
