Critters Breakout nails the 2v4 chase formula frantic critter escapes, tense collector grabs, and hilarious item throws. Matches are chaotic but fair, bots fill in nicely, and the critters themselves are adorable. Super fun and replayable can’t wait to see what’s added next! Also helps to know there a Philippine made game giving back to animal shelters!
I love the game, it's like DBD but with Cute Critters!
When I first learned about this game I thought it was an amazing idea to have a game that can actually contribute and support foundations that help animals in need, I immediately wishlisted it even before it was release seeing the promotion made by CARA about it. It gives normal people the avenue to at least help in the smallest way they can even at the comfort of their own homes or at least make them feel good to know that they can give back with only the investment of their time. It's one of those typical co-op games that you'd want to play with your friends however I think there are important things that this game lacks fundamentally after being able to finally play it. First of all, controls. Aside from the movement I believe there are unique abilities per each critter that we can trigger, you'd only know about them if you typically play a lot of games or press them just to see if it does something. There are also seemingly objects that can be picked up which I only learned when I saw the other critters pick up, I tried pressing all the buttons on my keyboard imaginable before I could make it work. Perhaps a little tutorial or putting it under the settings time would greatly help. Another thing is the objective of the game. The game's basically assuming that the objective is outright obvious, of course Critters = Run/Hide. Kollectors = Hunt. But aside from that it doesn't highlight what needs to be done as Critters, yes there are icons of what seem to be items on the top right of the screen which might be the objective that needs to be completed for the critters? I don't know. But it doesn't feel like players, or those who choose to play critters would understand what needs to be done. Understandably this game lacks the audience deserves, for now. The multiplayer is non-existent, I may have encountered 1 player because a critter had a name but idk they were afk but I think it's good that you could still play solo but it's too difficult to win as critters playing like this. (Side note: I only found out that they had a tutorial, controls and demo by going to the discussion page.) Everything aside, I think it has a lot of potential overall and I wanted to write this review not to berate the game but to bring attention to some things that I think would greatly help the game. I believe it will get the attention it needs with few changes and maybe just a little bit more promotion. That aside, I want to support this game and the organizations that it's affiliated to. The point is, everything's for the animals after all. If you guys want to help in your own way then play this game! Let's support it any way we can and we can support the animals too! Hoping to see this game grow!
Nice game, good way to fund shelter animals. Some feedback regarding the game after my 7 minutes playtime: 1. The dog who caught me did not bring me right away to the cage. Went to be stuck against the wall for a long time before bringing me directly to the cage. 2. Opened settings while in Quick Play but the settings UI is not disappearing even after closing it. 3. No in-game instructions/controls. I am lost on how to play the game. Had to check the guide here in steam.
Very cute characters, and also a lightweight game. Recommended :)
At first I didn’t expect much, but it turned out to be a really fun and kind of silly game. You can either play as a dog chasing capybaras or be a capybara trying not to get caught, which makes it feel like a simple but chaotic hide-and-seek. It’s not super complex, but that’s part of the charm, it’s easy to pick up and just mess around. One thing I liked was the base map. It actually looks pretty cool and has this vibe that reminds me of a Filipino province, like the layout and scenery feel familiar and relaxed. It adds a bit more personality to the game instead of just being a random setting. Overall, it’s not a serious game, but it’s enjoyable if you just want something light and a bit funny.
first of all i would like to say the graphics and the music man these are WONDERFULLLLL OUT OF THE WORLD for a free game and the first cutscene i didnt belive that i got this for free the controls are good the downside that i found that dog catched me and put me in cage so fast so i hope the developer make more time for me to run from him overall its just beauty of a game
