Cover Your Eyes is a strange but very good RPG Maker horror game, so what is the story. A retired police officer Chloe is not having a very good day, not only she has to work a dead end 9 to 5 job after retiring from the police force because of the Emoji killer incident and raising two kids, but she finds out her husband is having an affair. So deciding to follow her husband and confront him she soon discovers her beloved town of Verwood is under attack by horrible monsters, now Chloe must find her husband and get him and their two children out of town, but with her fragile mental state, the ghosts of her past and the horrible monsters, the mother of two is in for a hell of a fight. Alright then let’s get into the likes, the story is really good with plenty of great twists, turns and some heartfelt moments, it also has plenty of fourth wall breaks, it can be a bit confusing at first but once you get to the end it starts to make sense. The graphics are very good for an RPGmaker with a good use of colors, designs and background that makes you want to just look at it a bit. The levels are good with a nice use of scenery and little odds and ends that also ties into the story and makes a lot of sense on why everything is so strange, especially in the buildings. The gameplay is good basically explore and kill monsters while solving some light puzzles that do not feel too hard and the combat’s fair, there are some enemies that are a pain though, there’s also a little bit of strategy involved in picking which monsters to kill and which to just ignore. The puzzles were okay nothing too complicated mostly involved picking up an item and using it on something. The enemies and bosses are very good they have the right balance of goofy and disturbing, like some being goofy and lol to others being downright horrifying and disturbing. The characters are good, each one is well written I really liked Chloe as you could definitely feel her struggle and you want to see her escape with her children, her children are good they don't feel like annoying little kids that are in some video games, they have the right balance of cute and kiddish without coming off as annoying. The music was okay it can feel off and kind of bizarre, but it does fit a bizarre game like this. The atmosphere was good nice and spooky without being too spooky as you wander around the first few levels dreading early on, on what could be behind the next door. The price for the game is also very fair. Now is this game scary, sometimes it does have some good jumpscares, but it's more psychological horror than regular horror. Alright then let’s get into the dislikes, there are some frustrating parts in the game like certain enemies can be a real pain in the ass to fight, the worst probably being the fetus monsters that just move sporadically and there is one puzzle in the game that is a real pain and it’s in the Vernwood News Corp as it was just trial and error and just really frustrating. Also this game doesn't have any achievements which it's kind of dumb. Okay now that I've told you all this Cover Your Eyes is a strange but very good RPG Maker horror game, with a really good story, good gameplay and very good enemies and bosses, so I definitely recommend getting this game it's not too expensive has plenty to like and who knows maybe can teach you on how to make your own game using RPGmaker and I feel like this could be a cult classic.

Weniger förderlich ist jedoch der Chibi-Grafikstil, welcher das blutige Geschehen oder auch das Monsterdesign stark abschwächt. Nichtsdestotrotz ist die audiovisuelle Präsentation gefällig, da einerseits selbsterstellte Grafiken und Soundtracks verwendet werden, und andererseits ein eigener, unverbrauchter Stil genutzt wird. Einige Macken wie lästiges Screen Tearing, die Abstinenz von Controller-Support und ein etwas arg kampflastiger Abschluss mit nervigen Bosskämpfen verhindern jedoch höhere Wertungsregionen. Trotzdem eine Empfehlung wert für Freunde von Survival-Horror und RPG-Maker-Spielen.
