This game is a pretty significant departure from the mechanics of the previous CSD games. Overall the game is much simpler and asks for less perfection, so for me it was much chiller and a great wind down game. The game is mostly story focused (a story I found pretty nice!), following the main character's journey through cooking and the life surrounding it. The actual mechanics give a bit of the pattern recognition that is familiar to the CSD series, where in different operations take different set keystrokes. This game differs in that the subset of operations is pretty small, but each recipe takes multiple operations and these are divied out between each hand (i.e. each hand does things separately). There's some skill there in getting independence between your hands, but it's not too difficult to push through. Overall if you want a chiller game with some pretty art and neat story experience that still has some Cook Serve Delicious roots this is a great game.
Was a massive fan of CSD 1-3, loved that chaotic adrenaline rush. Had seen the reaction to this one and been put off from giving it a go as a result. I was very wrong to do this. It is not CSD, but I did get the same buzz. Its not as intense, but where it lacks in intensity it makes up for with a great story thats well written and brilliantly voice acted. Story does lose steam a bit around the middle / towards the end but mostly great. Really enjoyed it, sad I finished it all, also not sure how anyone has the dexterity to gold medal all blitzes!!!
I loved the game and the story being told. Yes, it's different than the normal CSD formula, but it provides a new unique experience. It may not be as difficult as the previous games, but going for gold on the blitz days can be a real challenge! Nori and Brie, the two main characters, meshed really well together! The humor in the writing was also something I really enjoyed! Overall, I was very satisfied playing this game and can't wait for the next installment in the CSD series!
Beware, this is not a traditional "Cook, Serve, Delicious" game, the orders aren't random, it's easier than any other CSD games, and you follow the story of a character through little cutscenes and little discussions during the "cooking challenges", and outside of it. It's very much a kinetic visual novel (as in you don't make any choices but you follow the story) in essence, mixed with gameplay of having to cook dishes which are multiple series of QTE actions, like cutting stuff with a knife requires you to press LB/R1 16 times, other actions will require other prompts and they're all shared between recipes. It's not as hard as the other Cook Serve games but will still provide a challenge if you're aiming for 100% accuracy in all locations and all gold medals. The story was good and I really liked the game for what it is, so I whole heartedly recommend it.
About 60% through and I think it's an okay game, different gameplay but polished. There's full VA which is nice, and the story is quite cliche but okay as background. The music is hit of miss for me, but I love a few of the tracks. Personally find it easier and better to play on keyboard, despite the controller recommended suggestion. Maybe it's just my setup, but it's much easier to press things faster on my keyboard compared to a controller. I tried a few different controllers and kept having issues with the steps that requires me to hold the down button on the D-pad. Game seems to be very sensitive with inputs and if your finger moves a little you'll get a fail.
!! Worth revisiting after mechanic rework. Gameplay may indeed have been easy in early access but it is fun and tricky with the controller. A lovely take on the CSD franchise. Delightfully surprised by the new mechanics and the story is lovely ❤️ Highly recommend
Steam真的需要有中评……我咋记得这系列以前不是这种玩法呢,感觉纯纯变成视觉小说了加点儿特别漫长的无聊QTE……画风倒是不错,说真的独游十个有八个是美术骑着全部部门上班
honestly this franchise is going down hill, it went from perfection, to good to why is it a shooter, now to press buttons sim. this is honestly tragic because the first game is o ne of my favoret games of all time and that one is the only one you should play
I’ve played all the games in the series and really like them, so I was excited for Cook Serve Forever. Overall, I think the game is really good. The art style is beautiful, and the food in particular looks amazing. I also enjoyed the music, and the story and characters really appealed to me. One thing that didn’t quite work for me personally is the control scheme, where you have to perform different actions with both hands at the same time. All in all, it’s a very good game and I can recommend it, even if I didn’t fully click with part of the controls.
