Writing and atmosphere are solid. Combat is boring and simplistic
A very nice game. The setting is gritty, with lots of shades of grey in the decision making, which I love. Well written, with interesting characters. Lots of character customizations as well. In short, really recommend it! Age of Decadence is a tip as well, although the setting is more post-apocalyptic and the graphics are a bit dated.
I wanna like this game and I do enjoy parts of it but when a game aims for that idea of "You can't win every fight" and "Sometimes you gotta run" you should probably be able to actually have a chance at escaping fights. All this game really has to show in that particular field is just, reload and come back later when you can actually win. I made a stealthy hacker/thief type character who was ok with Pistols, unfortunately the Stealth system isn't really a playable style and more of a contextual addition to combat encounters. Sometimes this allows you to find some tool that will win the encounter, other times it's just there to maybe let you kill 1 or 2 guys. This build however led to me getting stuck as progression was a series of combat encounters it didn't appear I could feasibly win save for RNG showing me mercy. To be fair there are two difficulty options, "Hero" mode which appears to be more of a power fantasy and "Underdog" which wants everything to feel grueling and I chose Underdog. But I really didn't come away feeling like I was the spunky Underdog that could win with the right tools I just felt like a DnD player that made a ♥♥♥♥ build. You also can't change difficulty during gameplay so it's entirely feasible to get a save locked up.
Really liked this game. It scratches a weird itch in the post-apocalyptic CRPG genre that I didn't know I had. The guys at Iron Tower are kings of non-linearity and reactive design. These concepts are pushed to the maximum in Colony Ship, as well as their other game, Age of Decadence. The replayability is insane because of that. I plan to do another run soon. The game is very systems heavy. Honestly I was quite lost at the beginning, but soon I realized you have to do stuff and take risks in order to progress. The game really incentivizes you to try out new things even if you are not good at them. For the most part it seems important to have one party member which excels at non-combat skills (computers, persuasion, electronics etc.), in order to open different paths in quests. Stealth is optional but it can really come in handy. The story goes places I genuinely couldn't believe. The choices are never one-dimensional and always have some nuance to them. If you want to think hard about them, you can. Despite numerous branching paths, they all converge beautifully in the end. Barely any game does this well. I think you can even do a "no combat run". But I think that's fun for one run, though the combat system is so satisfying I would feel like I'm missing it. For anyone who digs this kind of thing - slightly philosophical, slightly morbid, with a kind of "dark-tech" vibe and the branching structure taken to its limits - you will definitely enjoy it. P.S. The graphics are insane and all, but one annoying thing was on the large monitor I have the text gets really hard to read! Ok, I'm getting older and my eyesight is decaying, but it's weird that they didn't add modifying it as an accessibility feature.
A very good game. Great story, great writing. None of the dialogues are voiced but the background music is appropriate to the setting. There is a bit of unending fetch quests towards the end but maybe that got annoying because I wanted to finish the game very quickly. This game reminds me most of another similar game: Encased, which I also liked. The great thing is that you don't even need to go into combat if you don't want to, just put points in charisma stats.
They crippled the stealth component of the game. Not a fun aspect of the game and not a small aspect of the game.
Very disappointed in this game. Everything feels scripted. Even before a fight I have to choose a specific square to start in.
Wanted to like this game, I love CRPGS , decent and novel story and graphics are basic but the art style is cool. However combat is simplistic and becomes repetitive, the stealth mechanic is frustrating and requires a specialist character to get anywhere and overall I felt it was very poorly balanced.
场景看起来很精致,但战斗演出拉跨,并且战斗中不让存档毫无意义,没有人想为关键的一枪90%命中率打空而买单,纯粹是为了让人恼火并浪费时间
