Created by students at UQAC, Cold Sun is a third person stealth adventure that takes place in a post-apocalyptic world that’s running out of fresh water and is overflowing with garbage (just imagine the Earth in a few decades time).

pretty game.

[Comment] I liked the game a lot. It was missing some sounds but overall the game was really fun. [Rating] 7/10
Half an hour total, but still sweet. Great visuals and sound, with reasonable stealth.

Some golden nuggets, and some smelly turds, but always a good time: Gameplay/Review: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2FNhYp2uqkw Short and sweet 3rd person stealth game. I enjoyed it and definitely think it's worth spending ~30 minutes to beat.
"ColdSun" is one of literally thousands of student projects infesting Steam. It's from UQAC in Quebec. While student projects tend to be better quality than most "amateur" made games, we must still question what value such projects have for gamers. As with all student projects, this isn't really a fully fleshed out game, it's just the result of an academic exercise, and as such it has much more limited value as a game than a professionally developed game would have. Educational institutions should not be using Steam as a dumping ground for homework assignments (especially if the students didn't even pass the course). Sure, it helps their marketing and helps the students feel good about themselves, but this is another case of a business putting themselves before the needs of gamers. "Coldsun" is a third-person stealth adventure set in a post-apocalyptic world. You're tasked with sneaking into the last habitable oasis with your brother. The gameplay revolves around stealth mechanics, requiring you to bribe guards and avoid raiders. The students didn't allocate enough time to developing the game (because they're students, and making a game for gamers was not their primary task), so it's short, full of bugs, and clunky and unpolished where it needed to be. Remember, we're here for gamers, not for students. This looks a lot like it was designed for consoles, but released on Steam instead by mistake. While this is on PC, it has all the hallmarks and deficiencies of a console game, from the clunkier than needed control scheme to the less than cutting edge graphics. There's 10's of thousands of PC games on Steam, and PC gamers deserve only the best. This might not appeal to many gamers due to the lack of PC-centric design. It's unclear why this never made it to the video game console appliances it seems to have been designed for. The graphics in this game are really quite good, which at least makes the game look more appealing. And while it's vital for any game to have impressive visuals (gaming is a visual medium, after all), there's more to a game than just the graphics. To be worth a gamers time, the game must match top tier visuals with top tier gameplay, and that's not happening here. Insultingly, the developer insists that you should play this with a console peasant children's toy gamepad instead of KB+M. You cannot play this without a console peasant children's toy. Developers should try to be aware which platform they're designing games for. It's the responsibility of the developer to ensure the game runs well on the platform they're selling it on, with the primary peripherals that PC gamers use. On pricing, this is "free" enough, at least you won't be expected to spend any more money after you download this, but just because something is free doesn't mean it's good, and the cost of a game is more than just financial, your time is valuable too. Despite having no up-front cost, this failed to appeal to the 120 million+ gamers on Steam. SteamDB showed the game peaked at only 4 concurrent players... this is a dismal public reception. This was so bad they couldn't even give it away. Bearing in mind that free games don't add +1 to your game collector count, should you bother adding this to your library and downloading it? This is a "maybe" experience... if you have a lot of free time on your hands and nothing else to do, why not? But for the purposes of a review, this isn't something I can say everyone must try. It's not quite there. Valve doesn't give us a "maybe" option in reviews, but if they did, that's what I'd choose for this.
A short, but otherwise solid game. The story is kind of a combination between Mad Max and Grave Of The Fireflies. Gameplay wise, it feels like a very stripped-down and stylised version of Plague Tale. Water is a great story tool, and I do like it as an unlock requirement as well, however I feel like the drinking mechanic is fairly arbitrary. The two protagonists got thirsty at seemingly random intervals, sometimes even directly after drinking, and so giving them water just seemed like an unnecessary waste of resources. I also didn't really understand nor use the rest system, outside of the ones required for level transitions. Aside from that, the only real issues I experienced were camera clipping and massive hitboxes.
