Clair Obscur: Expedition 33

I played Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 for around 70–80 hours on Xbox, and honestly, I enjoyed the hell out of this game. Unfortunately, I lost my save file on Xbox. Instead of leaving it there, I actually bought the game again on Steam and started from the beginning. That should tell you how much I loved this game. This is also probably the first game I’ve played where I actually kept the music on the entire time. The game is ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ beautiful. The aesthetics, the world, the characters, the arenas, the fights—everything feels so well built and carefully designed. The characters are genuinely lovable, and the story and build-up kept me invested the whole way. The combat and build mechanics are something different from what I’m used to, and that’s what made the experience even better for me. It doesn’t feel like just another turn-based game. No wonder this game got Game of the Year. It absolutely deserves the love it received. I’m literally playing the entire game again from the beginning on Steam, and I’m going for 100% this time, for sure. 100% recommended if you’re looking to try something new, especially if you’ve never really played this kind of turn-based RPG before. Go for it, You won’t regret it. And whatever you do—**never skip a cutscene.**

The game just crashes whenever I start a new game since I don't have the right GPU, but the title screen music alone already says this game is peak.

good game but also ♥♥♥♥ this game

Undoubtedly a masterpiece of the decade. It's been far too long since we've gotten one. Music is NieR tier of incredible. I'd say the strongest point of the game. Story was beatiful and very enjoyable. Combat although I love turnbased, personally i'm not too much into the parry / dodge system. It was still very much doable even with old man reactions on the highest difficulty. Just takes a few tries. Character progression system is subjective but knowing that you can do some fun "obscure" giga builds is always a fun option. This game is something for everyone in my opinion.

After months, maybe even years of playing disappointment after disappointment, i finally decided to play the game that won so many awards in last years Game Awards, and man i should've played this way sooner. Graphics? Peak. Music? Peak. Gameplay/Fighting Mechanics? Peak. Story and characters? Peak. Endings? Peak [spoiler] (but there is an obvious correct one, stop huffing the Maelle endings copium) [/spoiler]. This is the first game i've played in who knows how long, that i actually had to think to try and piece the story together as the game went on, and probably one of only three or four that i felt anything beyond baseline emotions for any one of the characters, let alone feeling genuine interest in almost every major character and their own character progression as they each sort through their own issues. [spoiler] The only real complaint i have, is that as Act 3 starts, if you decide to explore and do some of the side bosses first, the entire end of the game is partially ruined because the entirety of Lumiere becomes one shottable. [/spoiler] Overall, an absurdly easy 10/10 experience.

Good story, fun gameplay

OMG. OMG. PLAY IT WITH A CONTROLLER This game rules. Had no idea what active turn based JPRG meant - but this baby pulls it off like a champ. Immersive characters, world, original style and story, and just downright cool. Intriguing, not overly dark or horrifying.
