Hmmm so many 1 review accounts reviewing this game and hyping it up like it's something crazy but it's really nothing special.

Overall, CHROMA feels unfinished and unpolished. The janky visuals and gameplay remind me of Heavy Metal: Geomatrix. That game was released in 2001 and is much superior to CHROMA. In CHROMA, you have what is basically a revolver with three basic shots (denoted with white) and three special shots (denoted with color). Purple is a gravity trap, red makes the enemy explode when it dies, yellow hacks the enemy etc. You get three random colors at the start of each run and arrange the order of the shots in your "revolver," but the problem is that there is no point in shooting enemies unless the objective is to destroy them all. Enemies are robots that swarm you constantly, can pounce ahead of your position and make a shockwave upon landing, and can zap you with lasers if near. They also constantly respawn unless the room you're in requires that you destroy them all. There is no XP and no drops either. The shooting is janky and the revolver takes ages to reload. You can dash up to three times in a row but the dash distance is laughably small (barely a few steps) and dashing when you see a robot pouncing on you will rarely avoid the pounce damage. You can also do 3-storey jump, but the cooldown for it is 10 seconds, which is an eternity in CHROMA.

This game is definitely challenging, but in a way that's similar to DOOM games. Which makes it super fun! The level design is awesome, the mechanics are really impressive for a student made game, and the overall environment design shows how skilled this team is! You guys will go far in whatever future endeavors you put your hearts into. Much love to the team! <333
this game is super fun!! i really liked playing with the different loadouts and buffs, which gave it so much replay value and let me customize gameplay to make it a bit easier for me! it's definitely hard but satisfying to win (love the red battery and crit bonus) it's also really polished and smooth to play, i was extremely impressed after hearing it was a student game!
Very fun roguelike shooter. The batteries and upgrades mesh well with each other to create an exciting and unique run every time. I love the opportunity to try out different combinations to see what works.
Had a great time playing this!

This is literally the best game I ever played. It's really the Baldur's Gate 3 of Elden Ring. Game of the decade??
honestly its pretty fun for a free game. def worth a try. it is a bit challenging at some points.
