Came in expecting braindead tree-chop-slop, and was gonna be fine with that. To be clear, this is NOT a "clear the forest" incremental-type game. You do plenty of chopping, but midway through the game becomes more about fulfilling tons of orders with your automated production line, and keeping its inputs full. Not hard once you figure out what things you tend to need the most of (basically auto-harvest metal trees forever). Still, it's not an automation game, really. I can't put my finger on it, but something is missing here. There's never a moment of satisfaction, of payoff. Rewards for a mission tend to be either more missions or a blueprint that allows you to complete more missions. I can't really say what this game is. This was very nearly a thumbs down for me because of the very minor, very inconsequential easter egg set of tasks that I took on post-game. You're given the most vague, obtuse "hints" that aren't really hints. The kind of thing you will 100% have to look up, and when you see the answer, you're angry. Because you had a sense of what the task might be, but the logical leap was so nonsensical that you just end up mad over an easter egg. So yeah, it's an interesting game I suppose. I don't think I'll ever think about it again, but hopefully it spurs more innovation in the ever-expanding tree-chopping game space. A fine way to kill a weekend while 2-screening.
I had a lot of fun, thank you. Performance was excellent. I dont had any bugs. Gameplay was fun. Nothing more to say :)
A fun game of its sort for a couple of hours, but I honestly will not recommend it after spending 15 hours in it and STILL find myself somewhat confused about the purpose of the game from the player perspective; am constantly finding areas in the game that are either "special, inexplicable dev zone easter eggs that serve no purpose" or "dev laziness because they presume most people won't try to jump to the end of the world and PROBABLY won't find all the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ areas where we just smashed store assets together and haven't bothered creating bounding zones or walls that cover everything; or straight up feeling like I'm wasting my time. Please, dear reader, continue doing so for specifics. In my experience, 75% of the game is chopping trees and/or acquiring wood, then using it to craft things; 20% is travel time; and 5% is figuring out what the hell is going on mechanically- the story literally takes 0% of my time/interest. Feel free to adjust ANY of those first three figures in ANY format, because I could tell after 5 minutes in the game that this was a VERY specific sort of autism check, and your mileage will vary based off your type. The problem is that you seemingly only get one automatic wood creator- unlocked midway through the game (it took me half of my 15 hours to get there in my playthrough, though I admit to being on the "completionist" part of the ADHD spectrum)- and even after you FINALLY unlock all-encompassing automation, all of the recipes cost so much that it literally wore my desire for efficiency down to its embers and beyond- and I've completed both Factorio and Satisfactory more than 3 times each. There just isn't enough automation in the game to make the grind worth it, in my opinion. I've spent 15 hours in the game and STILL have to manually run out to chop down the base trees to somehow fill the orders halfway through the game (about 50% through the destruction of your old corporation). TWO HUNDRED STADIUM SEATS?! That requires something like 200 individual Birch trees cut down, and that's just for ONE PART OF THE RECIPE; it also turns out the only source of automated Birch tree wood is ALSO the only source of ANY OTHER automated wood. The grind is TOO MUCH. Moving on, I legitimately skipped through 100% of the dialogue after I realized it was all generic tongue-in-cheek, possibly-AI-generated stuff. If it's NOT AI-generated humor I apologize, but you can't just completely fill a game that has this much dialogue with that much "humor"; it completely loses its impact, then its draw, then any desire to see it because you just know it's MORE of it. I probably didn't read anything from ANY prompt after the second hour, and that was me giving it a good shot. I honestly don't know how much- if any- of this game is store assets, but if you play it you'll understand what I mean. Total score after 15 hours of playtime trying my best to enjoy it? Ehhhhh... 3/10.
