Would be good, if one could find anyone to play online......had same issue with ultra......waste of money
Visually, this game is definitely the best chess game on Steam! The tutorial and problem sets are also very well thought out. The game profile customization and case system with different chess sets are very enjoyable. This game has bots of all difficulty levels, from easy to advanced. The game has only two minor drawbacks: it takes up quite a bit of hard drive space and it's quite difficult to find a human opponent to play with.
UPDATE 10/25/25: Back in July, I posted a negative review due to a frustrating connection error that was plaguing the game, even during single-player sessions. I'm thrilled to report that I decided to give Chess Infinity another try, and the developers have clearly listened to feedback and fixed the problem. My latest sessions have been flawless. The performance is smooth, stable, and completely free of any disconnects or crashes. What was once a frustrating hurdle is now a seamless experience that allows the game's brilliance to shine through. And what a brilliant game it is! The visuals are truly stunning, bringing a fresh, modern aesthetic to the classic game. While I've only played solo so far, the single-player experience is robust and engaging. The AI offers a challenging and rewarding opponent, and with the connectivity issues resolved, the gameplay is pure, unadulterated chess bliss. For anyone who was on the fence or held off on a purchase because of early performance issues, now is the time to jump in. The developers have delivered on their promise, and Chess Infinity is a must-play for any chess enthusiast. I can't wait to jump into the online modes next! ------- [Original Review] July 2025 - The game looks INCREDIBLE! The connection is HORRIBLE! Even on single-player, before the match will start it'll say that there is a "connection error". I know that it's not my internet because all of my other devices (including my pc) is still actively connected. When they fix the connectivity issue, then I would recommend the game and update this review.

nice
Local/offline play is a bit clunky, the game expects a permanent internet connection. When you start in offline mode the game complains with an error message (but it still works if you cancel the message box). The graphics are pretty, but of course resource hungry. On a Steam Deck, on first start the performance is horrendous (8-10 fps), but gets better once you cycle/apply all the individual graphics settings (reflections, shadows etc.) and then set them to low or medium. (Especially global illumination needs to be set to low, that one seems to be a GPU hog.) Afterwards the game can reach about 40 fps on the Deck. I am not that keen on the concept of having to 'earn' things like chess sets, but then again that mechanic is supposed to keep you motivated. The AI can be scaled down significantly; there are virtual opponents with 600 elo and less, so there is something even for beginners and very casual players here. TL;DR not a perfect game and you have to fiddle a bit on the Deck, but if you like a game of chess in a stylish wrapping, you can do worse.
Pretty graphics, beautiful scenery, very nice to play solo vs computer. Not to play multi, multiplayer is dead there's like 5 persons playing this game on Steamchart.
I really like this game i love Chess and am glad i can play with others .. great graphics enjoy the puzzles i liked the previous Chess game to Chess Ultra ..
no one online
One of the best chess games I've played.
