Graphics are amazing however this is just a walk and read everything you find kind of game. If you want something boring I suggest this. I love the paintings and various art scattered along.
I just TRIED, to play this game, but it kept getting stuck or something, on just one part, before it even really went into the game, when I tried to get out, pushing esc, than the windows thing on my keyboard, than other keys too, none worked, I finally had to get Task Manager to end it, so glad this was free! Don't know how there is any really good reviews, unless its from the friend of the making of the game! Oh and my desktop is a gaming PC, and I have Windows 10 fully up to date too, so not my PC fault!

This is one of most confusing game ever. Maybe because I totally skipped texts. I tried to read first few, but... font was too inconsistent - sometimes big and sometimes not. So story was not clear. Especially usage of some unfamiliar words and history. Interior graphics are very nice. Except those button on the wall... what the hell? And those 2D ghosts... and lack of sounds... I know it's free, but it totally does not allow to immerse. Almost every (or maybe EVERY) paper and painting have interaction. Fulfilling your screen with image and text. Covers screen fully. Any text will also be used on whole screen. No fancy background, just black. No scrolling. Sometimes fancy font, sometimes regular. Horror element? I guess none. If you like art (paintings) and want to learn some history - go for this game. I know it is free game, but lacks polish. It's very raw game.

cool and chill game
Charlotte is a free to play first person puzzle adventure game based on a mildy horror/ghost themed short story called "The Yellow Wallpaper". The developr self deprecatingly calls this a walking sim, but there's enough detail and interaction to make this a full fledged adventure game. The game works well enough but the quality is very low and it comes across very much as one of those Unreal asset flips, but I think this was sincerely made as an homage to the short story. The game theme and style are very tastefully done. A great deal of effort went into arranging and positioning the assets and level layout (although I suspect these are mostly flipped assets). There's a lot of things to click on and interact with, which is a great touch. It's the technical aspects where the game falls down. This is horribly optimised and plays somewhere between wading through molasses and a slideshow. Game interfaces are clunky and unsatisfying. There's no options to change the resolution for the game or customise the graphics settings. There's no way for gamers to ensure this is running at the native resolution of their displays... there's no guarantee this game will look right on any PC as a result of this hamfisted design decision. There's no way for gamers to try improve graphic quality or optimise the terrible performance. The controls can't be customised, which will be an annoyance for many, but it can also render the game unplayable for differently-abled gamers. Frustratingly, there's no way to exit back to the menu or exit the game! These technical defects push this game below acceptable standards for any modern PC game. The game is completely free. This is noble a gesture that shows dedication to both gamers, and the gaming industry. Nothing speaks more to a developers belief in themselves and their product than making their game available for everyone without remuneration. It's a shame in this case that the implementation is below the minimum standards a dedicated PC game should offer to enthusiasts. There's no "maybe" option in Steam, unfortunately, but I hope to see more work from this developer, perhaps as part of a professional game development company that can make full use of their talents without needing to make budget/quality compromises.
BOR-ING Update 6/16/26: I tried playing this game again and it was just as boring as the first time I played it.
