🎮 Gameplay & Genre
Cerulean Invasion is a straightforward visual novel with light branching, clocking in at just under four hours for a full first playthrough (I ended up with Leon, but wanted Osman, so I think I made a wrong choice somewhere along the way). Choices focus on relationship development and scene access rather than complex route-locking, which keeps the pacing tight and accessible, but I did find myself wanting more branching overall. There were several moments where the story felt like it was building toward a decision point and then simply kept going with no choice offered, which was genuinely disappointing. I also understand the tradeoff here, because deeper branching quickly becomes more technically demanding and harder to polish, and this entry is clearly prioritizing a smoother, more cohesive first installment. The structure is cleaner and more confident than Red Ops, and while in-game achievements exist (an improvement over Red Ops), Steam achievements are not currently enabled, which feels like a missed opportunity given the improved systems.
🔥 M/M Content
This is fully MLM, without hedging or ambiguity. All primary characters are men who are clearly into men, and the fantasy never pretends otherwise (thankfully!). There are three love interests, and while it is unclear whether full exclusive romance routes are implemented, you can have sex with all three. The CGs are explicit, polished, and confident, including group content. Body types skew heavily toward jock soldier builds with little diversity, but the uniformity fits the space-military setting rather than feeling like lazy defaulting.
🎨 Visuals & Style
The visuals are unapologetically sexy, with consistently muscular jock builds that fit the space-military setting well. Character sprites emphasize broad shoulders, solid frames, and physical confidence, and the CGs lean fully into that appeal. Anatomy is generous without tipping into absurd proportions (though I'm all for that when it fits the context), with large but believable ♥♥♥♥♥ that feel intentionally drawn rather than exaggerated for shock value. Overall polish is strong, and the art direction feels more assured than Red Ops, making both the erotic and narrative moments land much more effectively.
🗣️ Tone & Writing
The writing and story feel more developed than Red Ops and I genuinely enjoyed the storyline. The sci-fi setting pairs especially well with MLM romance in a way that feels both escapist and character-driven, and it’s a combo that really works for me. Character interactions are warmer and more confident, with relationships that read as genuinely friendly rather than purely transactional. Even with a wartime backdrop, the narrative keeps its focus on connection and emotional continuity. As Part One of a planned trilogy, this installment tells a complete story arc while clearly laying groundwork that makes you want the next chapter.
👍 Best Thing
The emotional tone. The camaraderie and intimacy between characters feel earned, not rushed, which elevates both the romance and the sex.
👎 Worst Thing
No Steam achievements (yet?). Given the inclusion of in-game achievements and the polish elsewhere, this omission stands out.

Recommended. Cerulean Invasion improves meaningfully on Red Ops in writing, presentation, and emotional clarity, delivering confident MLM sci-fi romance that knows exactly who it’s for and doesn’t apologize for it.
