Cease To Breathe

Cease To Breathe is a great game with a spooky atmosphere, for all that miss the adventure games of the past and very much worth the price. It is ideal for a nice hour or so of puzzle solving until you die or get stuck and come back to the next day to try something new. I am having a good time with the puzzels and while some of them can be a bit frustating for those not used to old school adventures I would still recommend it for those that are interessted, just be prepared to get stuck.

I am a big fan of Shadowgate on NES so this was perfect for me. A wonderful throw back. A lot like Uninvited but much gorier. I really hope the dev makes a follow up.

Cease to Breathe is a total surprise and a blast to play. It’s like a modern take on the classic Shadowgate and Uninvited, with that same eerie vibe and tricky puzzles. I snagged it for just a buck, but honestly, I would've easily paid ten times that for the fun I had. If you’re into old-school point-and-click adventures, you’ll love this. And seriously, developer — make a sequel. Please. I'm begging you.

Drawer-and-cabinet-opening simulator, many with nothing inside. Fun! The kitchen alone has 19 things to open. So I can "hit" the basement pipe to make it leak, but I can't do the same with the axe or hammer? Nonsense. I try to use the axe on the panel in the closet, and I get a "That doesn't work!" response. Why not? The "you are dead" screen takes too long. Despite the 2.0 release having "Spelling and Grammar fixes", there are still several typos. I've counted 22 so far. In a game like this, the text is very important, so there simply can't be typos. The writer's use of things like "yeet" and "fo' reals" ruins any chance the game has at maintaining a spooky atmosphere.

Cease to Breath is a Shadow Gate-style adventure game where you run around a tiny house and get harassed by creatures. You kinda wander around, picking up various things and reading about the ugliest family in the world being very dumb. So, let's make this quick and what you care about: 1. Yes, it's worth the $5.00. 2. The puzzles are not THAT bad, and the logic is fine. 3. Multiple endings should just be called "You get slightly different text due to messing with certain objects. 4. Thankfully, there is no timer system a la Shadow Gate torches. 5. No walking dead mechanics. Also, with that, monsters can't kill you either as you can just walk away from them, lol. So, the puzzle difficulty is a sweet medium. 6. It's not scary after the same pop-scare monster slightly shuffles in front of you, and you realize you can, you know, walk to another room. Honestly, the game is pretty decent for a one man project. Achievements are ok if slightly bonked on triggering. No game-breaking bugs I could find. All in all, a decent little game to kill a few hours.

It's a little bit too subtle at times... but if you like figuring out games like Shadowgate, Deja Vu and etc, this is a game for you.
