Recommended 🐾 Cats of the Yuan Dynasty is a charming and beautifully crafted hidden object game, the seventh from developer Catnip — all of which I’ve thoroughly enjoyed. In this installment, you’re tasked with finding 200 domestic cats cleverly hidden within an ancient Chinese scroll painting of a royal hunting expedition, complete with traditional and fitting music that enhances the atmosphere. The scroll is incredibly detailed, making it fascinating even beyond the cat-finding challenge. The game includes essential tools like zoom and a “find” function that highlights the section of the scroll containing unfound cats, which is a lifesaver for the trickier ones cleverly camouflaged against similarly colored backgrounds or integrated into the scene. With 100 achievements tied to discovering various numbers of cats, the game offers a satisfying progression for completionists. It’s a meticulously designed, relaxing, and rewarding experience for anyone who loves hidden object puzzles or just wants to admire a beautifully crafted piece of interactive art.

Cats of the Yuan Dynasty is the seventh hidden object game from the developer Catnip, all of which I have played and enjoyed. This one involves finding 200 domestic cats which have been inserted into a background of a very long ancient Chinese scroll painting of a royal hunting expedition, with a traditional and appropriate music accompaniment. The scroll painting is beautifully detailed, and fascinating to me in its own right, not just as the background of the game. The game has a good (and essential) zoom function, and a tool to locate an unfound cat by automatically moving to the section of the scroll containing it. Although many cats are quite clearly visible, others are cleverly "hidden in plain sight" by being placed against a similarly coloured background or incorporated into the scene in a way which makes them look like a part of the original painting. After four increasingly careful passes of the whole scroll, I had found 198 of the 200 cats, at which point I used the "find" tool for help with the last two. There are 100 achievements for finding particular numbers of cats. I purchased this game for UK £0.89, and found it it to be good value for money (and for my time).

beautiful piece of art but for me this game is a no go for future purchases positives 1. the image is beautiful and I would love to study it more 2. sun hint helper in the upper left hand corner... no flyover text so you're left to wonder what it is since the first time it didn't do anything when I clicked it. 3. don't regret the purchase but wouldn't do it again had I known 4. caveat - sat through the timer wait by playing cards... one hint didn't show anything so now I have to try to fix the game so I can get it would be nice if the devs would fix the game so all the achievements works as expected if you have this issue verify your files and it will fix it negatives 1. all the mousing is done with the index finger and no right mousing to drag the image which would take some of the stress off of the index finger 2. the cats wiggle when you find them 3. there is a paw that jumps up to score the find at the bottom of the screen. cute the first time I saw it but quickly became an annoyance and distracting from the search 4. no indication of how to exit the game. flyover text would have been helpful, so I took it out of full screen and used close which worked without losing my progress but I shouldn't have had to wonder 5. way too many cats for me... my hand is cramping due to the left mouse only use. not sure I'll finish this one because I'd have to wait for hints the whole time and that's one of the reasons I left at 37 remaining
