Edit October 2018: Ok the dev has decided the game is fit for "full release", be warned he has not done a single thing with it! No fixes, no patches, nothing! The "full release" is exactly the same as what it was 12 months ago with the exact same issues detailed in my original review. He still does not respond to any of the community. Feel free to check out my Full release impressions video, there is still a little fun to be had, but it is still far from ready! https://youtu.be/82SzGAesKlk Well after one update patch the dev/s have clearly ditched the game. Been no updates since 17th November 2017, they do not respond to anyone in the community and show no signs of doing anything at all. So buyer beware, right now it has some neat ideas but poorly implemented. Climbing trees should be a cool feature, but it is cumbersome. Stand near an iem to pick it up and either you`ll be sent flying, or the item will disappear, or it will fly away. Turning in game makes it go crazy, literally it becomes a juddery mess which can cause headaches and sickness. Rift users feel seriously detached from the hands, they are out of proportion and are more like long stumps stick out from the end of your actual hands. There are many other flaws too, most of which have been reported but the dev is not responding. I would seriously advise staying well clear unless the dev steps up and shows interest in this title, even at the "sale" price.

Very good game. I hope, the developer is motivated enough to make this cool game really great. Some bugs are in the game, but the developer is on it - that is great! Good Job!
Terrible game, that is all have to say for this terrible game.
I got this game on a Steam sale for $4.99 USD back on January 12, 2018, but decided not to play it because it was Early Access and had several negative reviews. I knew if I played it and reviewed it back then, I probably would have given it a negative review as well. This game came out of Early Access today (suprising me as I thought maybe it would stay EA ad infinitum). I don't know what, if any, updates there were between now and then, but I can say I enjoyed the heck out of my first 2 hours playing this game. There is a pretty long tutorial to start the game. It's mostly just reading big signs and following the simple instructions. It's all pretty rudimentary. In fact, the whole game is very clunky. You'll clip through objects. Grabbing items doesn't always work. Climbing also doesn't always work and you can't always tell when you have a good grip. The bow & arrow doesn't shoot very good (compared to the average VR bow & arrow game, see the Lab for comparison). Throwing the spear feels odd and it seems the scale is off on the spear. The world has pop-out issues (versus pop in), several flint stones just popped out of view when I approached them (but they were still there, invisible). There's point and click interactions and then items that you have to go near and press grip buttons to get for whatever reason. Even building a house was clunky as items did not want to go where they should. Despite all those problems, I had fun. I had a lot of fun. My first playthrough, I decided to explore. I just built an axe and a pickaxe. I wanted to find a place to mine for stones (the nearby rock formations didn't yield anything for a strange reason). I came across a settlement with guards guarding the entrance. I decided descretion was the better part of valor and to go around. That's when I came across a wolf. I thought I should tame it, but before I could get any meat, the wolf started attacking me and I had to kill it with my axe. I dropped my axe to get up a tree (before realizing I could holster it on my side pocket on my next playthrough). When I got down a bear got to me before I could get to my axe. I decided to make a run for it. I got into the water and it seemed I had lost the bear as it didn't want to get into the water. So I got into the other side of the island. So I was on my way to crafting another axe and looking for some flint rocks to craft one when the bear found me again. This time I decided to fight with my pickaxe. That was a deadly mistake on my part. Next playthrough, I decided to focus on making my house and my bed. It took quite a while, but I was able to do it. Keep in mind, loading time and saving times are very long. It almost feels like your system has crashed, but it just takes a very long time. I would rate it much higher if the dev could fix all the issues the game has, but it's super fun and there's quite a bit to discover. I wish you could craft more stuff though. It doesn't seem like there's a lot of content even though the island is quite big. And I didn't even mention riding a horse ... yeah you can ride one but it is awkward doing so. Rate 6.5/10. Fun, warts and all.
It needs quite a bit of work. It makes you sick because the graphics are constantly glitching out while moving even on low setting with a gtx 1080 and a 4.7 ghz oc'd cpu. Not a lot makes me sick in VR, but this sure does. The controls for the Oculus are also unworkable in their current state. Having to constantly hold down the thumb sticks is really tiring on your thumbs. As someone with pain issues, that's a deal breaker for now until it's fixed. I'm keeping the game because I got it for like 5 bucks and I'd like to see it get better, but the developers have really got to drop everything else they're working on and get rid of these glitches/fix these controls, because I can't even play it like this. like, use the point gesture for pointing at the menu and have normal controls that don't require holding down sticks. Now that would clean it up a lot. I'm still giving it a like because I like the idea and I want to support it, but I really hope this is all smoothed out.
very buggy cotrolls and climbing mechanics.
Just tried it out for about 75 minutes. True - controls are a bit odd, my axe just disappeared and I did not find any ore at all to build a camp fire. It also gave me some motion sickness in the beginning - but hey, it's early access... I think that this could become one of my VR favourites in case the developer stays motivated and continues the good work he's done so far.
12 mins of gameplay and i request a refund... this game just doesnt work at all, all loot dissapears as soon as you get close, the game stutter is rediculous it actually feels like your in a constant earthquake. the arms are just massive!! and shooting a bow is pointless as the AI is that dumb you could walk up to a deer and prod it with the arrow.. please stay away from this game!! the dev will never finish this because its not fixable.. its just utter mess made by a dev who doesnt know what he is doing.
abandoned, sadly, as it had something going for it
