Two hours into the game they added a lean function. Don’t lie to me and tell me it was there the whole time.
Call of Duty: Ghosts is the 2013 release for the Call of Duty series.
After losing ODIN, an orbital weapons platform, to the South American Federation and having its weapons turned on it. The United States of America is on the back foot as the Federation advancing from the south. After a long and bloody war, the USA manages to hold on after years of bloody fighting across the boarder states.
Now, in the DISTANT FUTURE of 2028, You play as Logan as you and your brother Hesh are recruited into the Ghosts, an elite special forces unit based on that guy everyone liked in modern Warfare 2. And wage a covert war against the Federation as you attempt to discover its secret plans to destroy the US and conquer North America.
This doesn’t read like a Call of Duty game.
There really isn’t much I can add that I haven’t said in my Modern Warfare 3 review. Call of Duty continues being a pretty decent military action shooter, focusing on its set pieces and dumb gimmicks like Dog cannons and ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ drone controlled A-10 Warthogs. Don’t forget the fish A.I.

Ghosts’ has this problem that, while I still liked them, I was never the biggest fan of the Taskforce 141 sneaky beaky going dark tango oscar mike missions that was, like, 50% of MW1 through 3. This time, I would say a good 90% of the game are those Taskforce 141 missions. Which I get, people liked that stuff, it was a big deal back in the day.
But you’re going to hit me with a Federation D-Day mission where we’re on the defending side and then immediately go back to sneaking around and breaching doors?
Ghosts’ big bombastic missions happen so far in-between that when they do happen they almost feel like a treat. Like you get to get away from the “Okay, move up.” stuff and do some trench fighting and invading Chile because why does IT get to be so long?
Also, there are only two astronaut missions, which I feel like is a waste because those are sick.
The Federation of Americas is probably one of the more unique factions from a Call of Duty game. I don’t know much about these guys outside of that it started with Venezuela, Brazil, Argentina, and Chile decided to make a power block after the middle-east got turned to charcoal. After that, it became a sort of “This is not a request” kind of situation for the rest of South America.
I don’t know what kind of government they are outside of not liking me very much, but I gotta give it to them, their uniforms are cool.
I feel like they wanted to just go full Strangereal this time around, but couldn’t get the go-ahead from Activision higher ups so they made this instead. They don’t do much with it, but its like they CANT do much with it, a six hour campaign doesn’t really give them enough time to flesh out the setting.
I do like that the Yanks are on the back foot, at least sort of. The Federation has more guys and even tech so, yeah, I get why a lot of the content is sabotage missions and things like that, but I still would have preferred more conventional COD missions as well.
I’m just rambling at this point, I don’t know what else to talk about. The US army uniforms are on point in this one. Good job, fellas.
