About
Best friends Sammy and Hannah are relaxing after a long day by playing their favorite tabletop role-playing game, Beast Dungeon. When Hannah distractedly pulls out their handheld and starts to play DIGIBUBBLE BEAT DX, gamemaster Sammy devises a crazy and twisted little fusion: BubbleBeast DigiDungeon.
Get into the flow with unique puzzle-rhythm mechanics across 5 vibrant levels! Match colored bubbles to the beat, defuse the Beasts’ attacks, and don't let that combo meter break!
BubbleBeast DigiDungeon is a love letter to handheld console and mobile games of the early 2000s. Lose yourself in the vivid, hand-crafted cast of characters and the bouncy soundtrack inspired by breakbeat, classic RPGs, and 2000s pop. ✧':*✧':*

This was a fun little game! Dialog was cute and so were the characters! Do you have any plans to make other games down the road? Thanks for this fun time :3
The main characters are endearing and have the playfulness of good friends The music of the main menu is so good you'll actually just stay in the menu The synergy between gameplay and music makes the level immersive The composition is out of this world! Epic, emotional, euphoric, badass and hype awaits you The representation is obvious and the levels and interactions help you see past that and into who these Characters are as individuals The end message was unexpected and greatly appreciated The options are scarce but the essential is there and then some it's incredible how much a simple game makes want to play it again and again. Whatever you're doing, developpers, keep it up, because it's AWESOME! And keep on stepping as your OWN pace!
very cute and very fun! if i had this game on a handheld when i was a child i would have been playing it 24/7. i only wish there were more levels, but there is an endless mode!
Interesting gameplay, pretty good OST, cute furry art :3 Recommended.
While I had the pleasure of meeting the developers at GDC 2026, I'll refeain from that influencing my review too heavily. Game works great on Steam Deck! Although, I recommend using it just as a normal controller, as despite being stylized like a DS, the touch controls of a Steam Deck don't work all too well with the gameplay. Bubble Beast Digi Dungeon is one of the most polished student projects I've played (and I've played quite a lot.) It's a short but really addicting rhythm game that centers around two friends blending their favorite TTRPG with handheld gaming. The premise is really simple but lends to the characters having lots of charming interactions, with the DM of the game playing a cast of wonderfully queer beasts that try to stop the player from ascending the dungeon. (Jester is my favorite, I love this weird little magic freak.) The game is fairly short and works great on deck. I was able to beat it in less than an hour, but I can see myself coming back to it because I do genuinely like the music and gameplay. I'm someone who infamously likes rhythm games but sucks at them; BBDD is fairly easy and beginner friendly, with a good amount of accessibility options as well. While I understand the limitations of a student project, I do wish there were some difficulty options or even just a higher spike in the difficulty at the end, as I only ever really struggled with Stage 3. The story is really cute, and the cast of characters are simple but wonderful. They all have their own distinct personalities conveyed not just through their dialogue, but through the way they all change up the game. Each stage features a gameplay gimmick of some sort. I won't spoil what they are, but they add a lot of depth to the gameplay loop with how you plan to launch your bubbles. Additionally, the game's OST is fantastic, albeit a bit small, but is synced super well with the gameplay. Ya know, as important for a rhythm game. The only song I didn't really like was Stage 4, The Brute. Just not my style. I did really love Stage 2, The Poltergeist, as I think it has both my favorite track and favorite gameplay modifier. The DS façade serves more as a stylistic choice rather than presenting itself as a DS game would—there unfortunately aren't many gay animals on the DS. Honestly, I think I prefer this than if it was trying to lean into nostalgia. It helps give the game it's own identity rather than just relying on "hey remember when handhelds were a thing?" As an appeal. In the future, I think it would be cool to add a just a transparent curtain to the graphics settings so that I could see how this game runs on an AYN Thor. It's a very pick up and play game that lends itself to being something to just do in short sittings whenever you're bored. I think having it on the go would be great BBDD is both cute and a blast. Again, I think it's one of the best student projects I've ever played, especially with how unique the gameplay loop actually is. The music is wonderful, I adore the art & character design, and it's really hard to beat the price of free. I hope these devs all go on to do work they enjoy and keep making art like this.
