It starts with the fact that this VR game can only be played on the monitor. After the test with my index failed, I had the fun to start the game directly from the monitor and not as usual from my VR living room. Lo and behold, it runs. On the monitor. With mouse and keyboard. https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2389554624 In VR you only get to the selection menu that you can use on the monitor with the mouse, but you can't use it at all in VR because neither the index controllers nor the Vive controllers are shown. What you then get to see on the monitor is also not worth experiencing in VR. Simple graphics that represent building blocks that can be collapsed with three different weapons. Hands off this overpriced Angry Birds clone with no twinkle and no fun. Not playable in VR and yawningly boring on the monitor. 👀Shoot more bricks on my curator page. So I got this thinking it was going to be a vr angry birds type game. It is. You have three different kinds of weapons to knock down or destroy what seems like a lot of building levels. I haven't seen it all since later levels need to be unlocked by completing the levels before them. It's a great pick up and play for a few minutes game. Not much else to say about it. I'd say it's worth 20$ and a nice game to get especially for friends when they stop by. I'm going to be going back to this game instead of the lab whenever I feel like knocking down stuff. My only issue would be the controls for the htc vive. I couldn't find a way to change them in game. Not that annoying, but the mine detonation is the same pad circle thing that turns you a few degrees in game. Otherwise the game looks decently polished.
Experienced on the Oculus Rift with Touch Controllers
Please note: I received a free Steam key through the Steam Curator Connect program You can view my review + gameplay here: https://youtu.be/9rX1AuU8EUk This game is a great concept that could be a totally awesome experience in VR. After all, who hasn't wanted to just blow ♥♥♥♥ up and see the fireworks and destructive aftermath? Unfortunately, this is a promising physics puzzler that falls short of greatness. That isn't to say this a bad game, but it could have been so much better with some more time in the oven. The objective of this game is to raze buildings / structures below a certain level for each level. You also have 3 challenges for each level. You will have to complete enough challenges to unlock later levels. You have 3 weapons: the charge (grenade) launcher, the hand cannon, and the guided bazooka. You're within a blocked off area with signage in front of you and the building / structure is in another blocked off area in front of you. You fire your weapon into strategic spots to start the destruction. The challenges can be .. well challenging. There were more than a few that I thought I was so close on my first try that I decided to quickly try again. So close that time too. Let me try again. 30 minutes later and I'm still no where closer than at the start. That's part of the fun & charm of this game, but also some of the frustration. Especially when you encounter certain bugs. One of the bugs I encountered was that my weapon just wouldn't fire. That's a problem, especially on the timed challenges. Another issue I experienced is that I would get inconsistent results. For example, I would fire my hand cannon and hit a certain spot on the structure and the material would explode. I would hit the exact same spot on the next try and the material would get pushed, instead of exploding. On top of that the setup isn't the best. As soon as you spawn in the area (or hit retry) the counter starts. There is no countdown. The UI is very rough and just ugly. The weapons seem a little too big and makes you feel like a midget. The buildings are not scaled properly to your height. The signage in front of you takes away some of the angles for firing your weapon, especially if you're playing seated. The weapon animations, sounds, explosions, could all be better. I would have preferred a setup where you're not enclosed with a square area away from the building you're razing. Still, this is a good challenge. I spent over 7 hours and only have 50% of the game completed. Hours passed while I was playing this game because I just needed that one more try to finish that challenge that I got oh so close in completing in my last attempt. As long as you're not expecting realism, this is a competent arcade physics puzzler ... warts & all. Rate 6/10.
Broken... and no Dev reply?
If you are thinking of buying, make sure you can return it. It didn't work at all for me. No chance to even get past the menu. If you are the Dev, please reply to your discussion threads about the game not recognizing Motion controllers, like my Index. Update the game description to accurately list what it works on, and I'll remove my negative review (since I don't know if the game is good or bad).
Doesn't work. Controllers completely unresponsive. Tried on G2 with index and WMR controllers.
BRING IT DOWN is not a bad game, but it gets boring very quickly: most challenges require patience for numerous attempts more than accuracy or planning. First few explosions are always fun, especially when you hit that sweet spot that creates the biggest blast, sending debris flying everywhere. But after that you need to clear out the rubble, ensuring it is below the grid to complete the level. And that part is very tedious: it feels a lot like a cleaning chore. Less important issues: - Audio for falling debris is very bland and quite, making them feel weightless - There are a lot of levels available, but a most of them are very similar, and the strategy to finish them is always the same - Hand Cannon is very weak and unsatisfying, it pushes the blocks way too gently and a fails to explode some of the times
