This game is better than Borderlands 3 in every single way. The gunplay, the story, ... everything. It's not that high of a bar, but still. Where it falls apart is in performance and stability. I would pick 4 over 3 every single day, but I have to admit 4 is barely playable. The outlines of everything flicker constantly, assets take way too long to load in even on an SSD and LoD stays on the lowest setting for AGES when you get close and I'm not sure whether I should still cause the stuttering "stuttering", because some time it takes so long to resolve it's more like "freezing". Exceeding 60fps without DLSS is basically impossible without dropping to 1080p. Steam SAYS it's Deck Verified, but that's a lie. Not only is performance horrendous (25fps max, not clean), but Gearbox in its infinite wisdom thought it would be a good idea to REMOVE ALL GRAPHICS SETTINGS from the menu for Deck users. I assume they thought Deck users craved the limitations of console gaming (a baffling assumption), but instead of simplifying the experience, they guaranteed the only way for Deck users to get a remotely playable experience was by going into desktop mode and messing with the game files to mod it into a playable state, or trick the game into thinking it's not running on a Steam Deck through launch options to reveal the options menu again. That is the opposite of simplifying anything. It is such a bad decision I'm wondering under my tinfoil hat whether Randy made it intentionally terrible just to sabotage the game on Deck just because he hates Valve. It's so bad on paper, so terrible in practice and so universally unpopular in the community, it's hard not to assume malice at this point. ...but again, the game is actually good under that. Some bossfights are the best the series has ever seen. It's such a shame it's in such a terrible technical state to this day, because I probably would recommend it otherwise.
Lousy performance, nearly €200 in DLC costs, boring—reminds me of EA and Ubisoft. Gearbox and Borderlands are done.
I´m having loads of fun with this game. But man that game is buggy, quest don´t trigger correctly, bosses are missing during the missions, items you are supposed to collect or shot don´t spawn. Until now those bugs could be fixed by restarting the game. But restarting the game every hour gets anoying real quick. Fix your f..ing game!!!
Starting the game for the first time looked like this: 19 minutes of compiling shaders. 4 times compiling shaders in total. 2 forced restarts. 1 crash. The tutorial and intro section took 40 minutes to get through, before actually getting to the open world section, so an hour of total "playtime" before the game even started. It ran at a not-so-smooth 53 fps at the lowest settings with horrible frame times making everything feel horrible and look horrible and the frame gen could not save this. What I got to experience of the game is a dumb modern joke showering game that felt clunky and not like Borderlands at all. This game has totally lost itself and the optimization is non existing. It's such a shame to see Gearslop being this neglectful and greedy. PLEASE SAVE YOUR MONEY and don't support this slop.
This is a premium game for premium gamers, beware.

Pros: fun fights (when you can find them), reduced legendary drop inflation compared to 3 Cons: NPCs who won't shut up and get to the point, rampant girl-bossery paired with universally pathetic male NPCs, overt political messaging, empty open-world lacking the density of activity in 2 and 3, cringy writing. Not recommended at even half price.
please optimize it or somthin
"premium game" my a55 claptrap stuck on elevator no dialog until you reset the game on my to retrieve a book, it stuck inside the wall climbing also, I'm very noticed it they "changed" enemy name to not offend certain people like midget to ripper if you pay this full price, my condolences
Borderlands 4 makes Borderlands 3 look good. Sadly, it's very disappointing. The story is, for lack of a better word, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and actually very short for my taste. The gameplay is still very bad as well — constant bugs and lag (can't interact with people or objects, but it works after a restart). However, it is fun with a friend, taking fights and killing bosses. I think they added way too many collectibles. The Vault bosses are underwhelming, very easy to beat with simple patterns — it has a strong copy-paste vibe, which is sad. The story bosses were very easy too. The only times I got killed were because of normal enemies that swarmed me with bombs and such. Overall, it's fun with friends, but not worth the full price they're asking. If you get it for 10€, sure, why not — but this is not worth more than 15€.
