Lousy performance, nearly €200 in DLC costs, boring—reminds me of EA and Ubisoft. Gearbox and Borderlands are done.

A huge disappointment. I genuinely like the Borderlands series — the first game, the second, and even the third. I deliberately waited before buying Borderlands 4 to give the developers time to fix the launch issues, but even now the loading times on higher graphics settings are painfully slow. And people complain about loading screens in Bethesda games... The open-world design actively hurts the series. Everything feels shallow, weightless, and repetitive, and the game becomes boring surprisingly quickly. Until now, I bought every new Borderlands game without a second thought. After this, if there is another sequel, buying it will no longer be an automatic decision. I rarely write reviews, but this was disappointing enough that I felt I had to.

Borderlands 4 makes Borderlands 3 look good. Sadly, it's very disappointing. The story is, for lack of a better word, ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ and actually very short for my taste. The gameplay is still very bad as well — constant bugs and lag (can't interact with people or objects, but it works after a restart). However, it is fun with a friend, taking fights and killing bosses. I think they added way too many collectibles. The Vault bosses are underwhelming, very easy to beat with simple patterns — it has a strong copy-paste vibe, which is sad. The story bosses were very easy too. The only times I got killed were because of normal enemies that swarmed me with bombs and such. Overall, it's fun with friends, but not worth the full price they're asking. If you get it for 10€, sure, why not — but this is not worth more than 15€.

Out of all the Borderlands series this is the absolute worst. The story sucks and takes forever to finish. The Characters are pathetic and even on Normal Mode there's so many enemies shooting at you that you get knocked down so often you might as well not even try to get back up. At least in the other three the enemies missed when shooting at you enough so you could focus and think what to do but here every shot hits you and you can't figure out which way is up! Shame on you Gearbox. Putting virtue signaling over quality. Just because someone has an alternate way of living doesn't mean they are good at programming or character design. PUKE all the way around.
