Seeing Zane again is like a long lost love. I want to play as him again, Rafa is so close but not quite as broken.
The big change to the UI and HUD makes it hard to get into. Doesn't feel like you're playing a Borderlands game, instead it feels like Destiny which is not what I'm into.
Borderlands is the kind of game I can't fully quit, even when it's driving me up the wall. When it clicks, it really clicks. There's a huge variety of guns, the loot chase is genuinely addictive, and co-op turns even the simplest fights into a good time. Pulling a great drop at just the right moment or teaming up to take down a boss can feel incredibly rewarding. The world also has a unique style and atmosphere that's hard to confuse with anything else, and every so often, the jokes actually land. But yeah, it's not all wins. After a while, the missions start to blur together, and too many enemies end up feeling like they're built to soak up damage instead of putting up an interesting fight. Then there's the backtracking, which wears out its welcome pretty quickly. The humor is hit or miss too. Some lines are genuinely funny, but plenty aren't, and a few characters come across as more grating than charming. Even with those issues, I still have a good time with Borderlands. It's messy in places and far from a flawless classic, but if you're into looter shooters and don't mind a bit of grinding, there's a lot here to enjoy. I'd still give it about a 7.5/10.
I'm enjoying Borderlands 4 - only has a crash after like 4 hrs of game play or something which is rare in a modern game. Minor bugs. Sidequests feel largely hit/miss but I enjoy all the variety and options in the game. FOR THE LOVE OF GOD CHECK FOR A PATCH AND THEN DO THE COMPILING OF SHADERS. THIS IS SO #$&*#$ STUPID. WHY WOULD YOU HAVE THE GAME COMPILE.... CHECK FOR VERSION... UPDATE.... RELOAD.... TO THEN COMPILE SHADERS AGAIN..... !?!? This is my biggest HATRED of the game .... just launching it..... otherwise. Get it on Sale. the DLC and other content are all WILDLY over priced. Still recommend.
I'm a Borderlands fanatic. Loved Borderlands 1 and 2, even loved the Pre-Sequel. Spent thousands of hours playing them. Played Borderlands 3 all the way through a few times, but lost interest in it due to the bad writing, annoying villains, and general blahness. As for Borderlands 4... Kind'v lost and confused after ~3 hours. Found a couple of "Beginner's Guides" and figured out the problem. I just want to blow things up and collect loot. This game has ten dozen systems you need to "master". They've really lost their way. If you want a chill time, playing and shooting and looting and having fun, this is not your game. If you want a deep complex game where you put a lot of thought into it, again, this is not your game. Borderlands 4 rests in that spot nobody really wants to rest in. It's not fun, it's not deep, it's needlessly complicated, and it's essentially resting ♥♥♥♥♥ face in a game.
Despite having a fairly old PC I have had hardly any glitches but my frame rate has been lower than normal. This isn't noticeable to my eyes. The developers have gone out of their way to make it different to earlier games and they have succeeded. It all looks fresh. It all takes place on one (very big) map. There are fewer fast travel stations and the guns are totally different. Unlike B3, the legendary drops are few and far between. There are, of course, new special Vault Hunter abilities. As with all Borderlands games, it's hard going at first with mediocre weapons. However, once the good ones start to appear, it's lots of fun. I think all Borderlands fans will like it. Like all games, it's worth waiting for a deal.
nice approval
I can't lie, I wanted to like this game. I enjoyed the franchise in the past but this one is just not doing it for me. It's... fine. 100% definitely a game. Is it enjoyable? Not to me, but games are an art form and all art isn't enjoyed by every viewer. Surely, this is a title SOMEBODY likes, but that somebody aint me.
I've been very slowly working my through. Got about half way through on one run before having to take a couple month break and returning on a fresh run. Just got to the 'Falling Wall' mission and will say it has been a pretty fun game so far. Awesome gunplay and items. I like the story as well but does feel a bit disconnected from the other games at first until after Sol. Scenery is good and feels very open. Slight downside of taking forever to get around when something isn't near a fast-travel. Overall very nice so far. Haven't gotten to DLC like I've seen many people talk about, might update once I do.
